I KNEW IT!
I have been grateful to be part of this course and have known all of these things.
In this page, I would like to express my knowledge about the things I had learned from
the past topics. Well, greatly, this subject course exposed me to know about patriotism
and nationalism. Patriotism and Nationalism is a concept which brings people together.
A sense of solidarity and love for our country is a sentiment which binds people
together. It’s a shared feeling and common goal to do what's best for the nation as a
whole and be supportive throughout this quest. Sharing my view, Nationalism is the
policy or doctrine of asserting the interests of one’s own nation viewed as separate from
the interests of other nations or the common interests of all nations. Nationalism means
to give more importance to unity by way of a cultural background, including language
and heritage, it is a feeling that one’s country is superior to another in all respects. The
act of patriotism and feeling patriotic are things that make for a stronger nation. It brings
to mind people directly involved with the defense of a nation, namely military service
members as well as state and local government representatives.
Patriotism pertains to the love for a nation, with more emphasis on values and beliefs, a
feeling of admiration for a way of life. One can say that nationalism is militant by nature
and patriotism is based on peace. Nationalism makes one try to find justification for
mistakes made in the past, while patriotism enables people to understand both the
shortcomings and improvements made. Both nationalism and patriotism involve some
form of pride in one’s country, both show the relationship of an individual towards his or
her nation. These facts remind me of someone who is known for his patriotic heart and
compassion love for our country. He is Jose Rizal, the National Hero of the Philippines,
his life brings Filipinos to freedom. His dedication boosts him to make several writings
and his novels got popular throughout the country. His patriotism brought inspiration to
everybody. In my high school studies, grades 9 and 10, I started knowing the all-out
story about Rizal, his life, and his famous writings. His strong and brilliant mind was the
weapon he used in fighting the battle of our nation. The books of Rizal widely opened
the mind of every Filipino to fight what is worth fighting for and that is our country. His
important works, Noli me tangere and El filibusterismo talks about colonialism, religion,
and power. His work gives off a societal message that the citizen should be the leaders
of the governing body and not the other way around.
This story is not just for Rizals’ patriotism but also I would express my gratitude to the
father of revolution as well as the leader of Katipunan, he is Andres Bonifacio. Bonifacio
really has the blood of a real Filipino and a heart of a brave hero. They fought the
Philippines for us. It’s a pride for the Filipino to have such heroes like them, brave and
has a passionate heart in serving the nation. Their influence snatches my eyes as a
student to become motivated in my studies. As Rizal said that, "the youth is the hope of
the nation". The value of education must be consistently looked at by the youth for it is
the tool to raise our nation. I was impressed by their passion for serving our country. As
a student, I will strive for the best and will be one of those hopes of my country.
Nationalism is a kind of excessive. Nationalism is the policy or doctrine of
asserting the interests of one’s own nation viewed as separate from the interests
of other nations or the common interests of all nations. Nationalism means to
give more importance to unity by way of a cultural background, including
language and heritage, it is a feeling that one’s country is superior to another in
all respects. The word patriotism is a noun that means devoted love, support, and
defense of one’s country; national loyalty. This term often brings to mind people directly
involved with the defense of a nation. Patriotism pertains to the love for a nation,
with more emphasis on values and beliefs, a feeling of admiration for a way of
life. Patriotism is based on affection and nationalism is rooted in rivalry and resentment.
One can say that nationalism is militant by nature and patriotism is based on peace.
Nationalism makes one try to find justification for mistakes made in the past, while
patriotism enables people to understand both the shortcomings and improvements
made.
Nationalism and patriotism both words involve some form of pride in one’s
country, both show the relationship of an individual towards his or her nation.
The life of Rizal way back in my high school education was being discussed boldly.
Rizal's identity is known to every Filipino being the National hero of the Philippines. His
dedication boosts him to make several writings and his novels got popular throughout
the country. His patriotism brought inspiration to everybody.

The Philippines is the complex archipelago nation in the northeast of southeast Asia,
that is made up of over 7,000 islands across the area.
The Philippines is one of the very few countries in asia to have Christianity as a major
religion, because of colonialism. The Philippines is still one of the most important
countries in the Asia Pacific region.

of the country. Philippines technically has the fourth largest population of English
speakers of the world with over 30,000 native speakers.
3. What are the similarities and differences of Bonifacio and Heneral Luna?
→The differences between the two, Bonifacio was often overly passionate and hot
headed while Heneral Luna was manipulative and knew when to open his mouth to his
advantage. Bonifacio was rather expressive compared to Heneral Luna who was rather
quiet and reserved being a politician. The similarities are, both of them was a great
leader who fought for the peace of the nation, also both of them were members of
Freemasonry, back then was illegal and punishable by banishment, excommunication
or even death. Bonifacio and Heneral Luna was both are great soldier and brave
heroes.
