TEXT 1

To Improve Comfort and Cleanliness at our school, a number of dust bins should be increased
When we look at classroom, school corridors, and schoolyard, there are papers, mineral water cups,
straws, and napkins here and there. The condition of uncleanliness and discomfort really hinders learning and
teaching environment. Litters thrown carelessly cause disease, especially empty plastic cups or glasses. They
can be placed for dengue mosquitoes to spread out. Besides, these rubbish can deteriorate the scene. Well
painted wall and green schoolyard do not mean anything if litters are scattered everywhere.
Anyway I notice that most of the students in our school have responsibilities for their school
environment. They put their litters on the proper places. But some are not diligent enough to find the dust
bins. The numbers of dust bins in our schools are not enough. More dust bins should be put beside each steps,
outside of the classroom, and some more along the corridors. Probably one dust bin should be in every ten
meters. So when students want to throw away their litters, they can find the dust bins easily.
When school in equipped with sufficient dust bins, we do not have problems of fifth and discomfort
anymore. Our school will be very clean and become a nice place to study.

TEXT 2

Some people say that television watching can damage a child’s development. Many children spend a
lot of their leisure time in front of the tube. The programs on television can delight and educate children if
they get a proper guidance. But TV viewing is often unguided.
Heavy viewing, two or three hours daily, can make children passive and less imaginative. Watching
TV over a long period is not as creative as reading. When children like watching TV too much, they are
reluctant to read because reading needs more effort. Preschool children play less if they spend too much time
watching TV. This is bad because playing is important for growing children. It helps them become more
imaginative, less anxious, and it improves their ability to communicate with others.
It is important that parents guide their children’s TV viewing. The programs on TV can influence
children’s lives. Children should watch programs that developed good attitudes, for example, shows that give
children a better understanding of the world. Children should not watch programs which are full of violence.
Some children are too young to understand such shows. They may try to do violence.
Parents should limit the number of hours of watching TV. Children under 14 should only watch TV
one or two hours a day. Preschool children should be limited to one hour a day.
