Notice (Read Prior to Beginning the Firmware Update Process):


As part of our commitment to provide world-class service to our customers, TOSHIBA is supplying this upgrade disc for purchasers of TOSHIBA Model SD-4000 to resolve performance
concerns with this model. This disc has been created to insure optimum performance of your TOSHIBA DVD Video Player. This upgrade is ONLY applicable to Toshiba Model SD-4000
with serial numbers beginning with the letter “M”. The serial number is located on the rear of the unit

The installation process is simple; however, please read all of the following instructions and notices prior to installation. This disc is intended solely for use with TOSHIBA Model
SD-4000 Video Players with serial numbers beginning with the letter “M”. Use of this disc in any other Toshiba model or any other DVD, DVDR, CD or any DVD or CD drive may cause
damage to the device and/or attached.

The following events may interrupt the firmware update process and cause the player to malfunction.

1) DO NOT unplug the power cord during the firmware update process
2) Avoid loss or interruption of power during the firmware update process
3) DO NOT press the power button on the unit during the firmware update process
4) Check the disc for dirt or scratches before beginning the firmware update process

Instructions (Begin Firmware Update):
1) Inspect the serial number of the unit prior to attempting the update. Confirm the 1st digit of the serial number located on the rear of the unit begins with the letter “M”. If the 1st digit of
the serial number has the letter “M” present then proceed to step 2 to begin the update.
2) Confirm the DVD Player is connected to a television. Turn on the Television and the DVD Player and select the appropriate video input used to watch a DVD’s on the television. (i.e.
Video 1, Video 2, HDMI or Component input used to playback video)
3) The blue TOSHIBA DVD Welcome screen will be displayed on the television
4) Open the DVD tray by momentarily pressing the “Open / Close” button on the front of the unit.
5) Place the update disc on the tray and close the disc drawer. The front display will indicate, “Load” as the disc is being read. This will take approximately 15 seconds to read the disc.
Wait for the “Firmware Upgrade” banner to appear on the screen.
6) Using the arrow keys of the remote cursor to the “Start” selection of the upgrade banner by highlighting Start as displayed on screen. Press the “Enter” button on the remote to begin
the firmware update.
7) The disc tray will automatically open upon completion of the disc being read.
8) Remove the disk from the tray. Do not close the disc tray. Wait for the programming process to complete. Do not press any buttons on the remote or on the front of the
unit until the update is completed.
9) Upon completion of the firmware update the disc tray will close and the unit will power off.
10) The firmware update is now completed. Discard the firmware update disc upon completion.
