Born and raised in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, I was exposed to various cultures, ethnicity as well as different points of views of the people surrounding me. My parents are both retirees. My father used to be a Senior Fuel Manager in Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and my mother was a School Principal. Both of them possess a strong hold on their life principles which influenced me to have my own strong view of life. I am the youngest of six siblings, and all my elder siblings are already leading their own successful lives. I see their success as a challenge for me to follow in their footsteps and mark my own success in the near future. My aim in life is to become a successful Orthodontist, giving aid to those who need me and bring the smile back on their faces.
I had gained my lower secondary education in SMK Aminuddin Baki, Kuala Lumpur, which was recently classified as a High Performance School . From the three years of education there, I have managed to strive and obtained straight A s for my Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR).
As for my journey in Tun Ghafar Baba MARA Junior Science College (MJSC), it is not over yet and there are many more for me to obtain and improve on. However, in my one and a quarter year in this college, I have involved myself in many activities such as the Choral Speaking competition which I have joined during last year s Language Week. I took part in the marching competition during last year s Sport s Day. I was also chosen as one of the facilitators to assist the English Unit in the English Getaway program. This year, I had participated in the Closed Bowling Tournament in Malacca International Bowling Center (MIBC), Malacca.
On top of that, I am also an active student leader. At the beginning of the year, I was elected the class treasurer. I was also one of the committee members in English Language Society. During the second semester last year, I have applied to join the Students Disciplinary Board (LDP), the English Motivational Committee (EMC) and the Student s Representative Council (SRC). I was at the final stage of selection for all the three student organization, but I chose to join the SRC instead of joining the other two organizations as it is perceived to be more challenging. I was elected to be the Academic and Career Executive Council for the year 2009/10 of the Student s Representative Council.
Academically, I am consistent and persistent in maintaining my results throughout the school year. For the first semester of form four, I achieved 4.00 GPA while for the second semester of the same year, I obtained 3.94 GPA. For both of the semesters, I obtained 3.97 CGPA.
Excelling both academically and in my extracurricular activities, I am capable of managing my time wisely and setting due dates to all my schoolwork and projects, aside from all the proposals and programs that I, as an SRC member would have to handle. Being a conscientious, reliable and hardworking individual who pays attention to details, I am confident of completing any given task with the utmost excellence. I think I am charismatic and am able to influence people in a positive way. Having travelled abroad frequently with my parents to countries such as United Kingdom, the Europe, United States of America, Australia, Egypt, Japan and more, I am exposed to many facets of people s lives and cultures, therefore I am confident that I would have no trouble adjusting to a new environment as I have developed strong cross cultural skills. Furthermore, I am very well read as my hobby is reading books. I am also sociable and have good interpersonal skills.
Based on the above, I believe that I am among the best candidate to be selected to further my study in one of the top world universities. Thereby, I am able to pursue my dream to become a successful Orthodontist. I shall strive hard throughout my college year to become one of the best students that would make my family and my country proud.

I go through my endeavors with precision and complete tasks better than expected on time. Traveling to countries in Europe, United States of America and United Kingdom had widened my perspective on most things in life, besides increased my cultural interest. I was born the eldest, and raised in a supportive, motivational and environment-conscious surrounding. Having a background of Mathematics and banking, I have developed a strong interest in accounts. I have attained a GPA of 3.93 for 2 consecutive semesters, resulting in a CGPA of 3.93 in 2009. I have been one of the top scorers for Physics, Mathematics and English Language among 450 students for 2 consecutive semesters. Having excellent results, I was selected as a facilitator for MARA Junior Science College (MJSC) of Tun Ghafar Baba s English Camp in January 2010. I played a leading role in the drama team which was runner-up for Drama Competition in the inter-MJSC Language Week at national level. I have participated in both long and short distance runs on Tun Ghafar Baba MJSC Sport s Day 2009, as well as an external bowling tournament in January 2010. I am the Public Relations Officer for the English Motivational Committee 2009/2010, and have initiated various English-related activities such as World War 3 Strategy Game, Walking Dictionary and Cheerleading Competition. I am also the Vice President of Yellow House in Tun Ghafar Baba MJSC for 2010. I have high expectations in accomplishing what I aspire to be. I am confident that I can adapt with life overseas in one of the world s top ten universities. Possessing the attributes responsible, passionate and well-organized, I believe I am capable of achieving all that is required to become a successful accountant.
Success is a journey and obstacles are only there if we lose sight of our goal. These are the words of wisdom that was once said to me by my parents. I know perfection is not attainable, but in chasing perfection, I will attain excellence. As a student, my goal is to do the best I can in whatever I do with whatever I have. If you can dream it, you can do it. I also believe that nothing in life is impossible. All I need are determination and opportunities. I applied to enter the Mara Junior Science College (MJSC) system and my application was successful based on my superb performance in the entrance examination. My parents were informed that I did very well, whereby I ranked the top 5 among the 25, 000 applicants who sat for the entrance examination. I realized that God has blessed me with what it takes to achieve academic excellence. I believe that God has planned well for me. I scored 5 A s in my Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination and was the top student at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Melawati, one of the top schools in Selangor. I too scored 8 A s in my Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination and also was recognized among the top students in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Melawati, a well renowned school in Selangor. The first day I stepped in Mara Junior Science College (MJSC) Tun Ghafar Baba, I knew I was on the right track. I am in the company of the best among the best or as they call it the cream of the cream guided by a superior team of very experienced and dedicated educators. The many academic and extra-curricular activities in this prestigious school provided me with an array of opportunities to excel and build up my personality. Upon entering MJSC Tun Ghafar Baba, I knew I had to work hard and grab any opportunity that arises. I am not afraid of aiming high. Against all odds, I scored 3.86 GPA in my first semester examination. Besides that, I was listed among the Top Scorer s list in almost every subject. I am also among the few in the college that are eligible to take English for Science and Technology (EST) as an extra subject. I realized that every success requires great sacrifices and is going to be hard to achieve. But as they say, When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. I was not satisfied with my performance in the first semester due to my mediocre performance in my EST subject. Therefore, I doubled my effort and organized my time. As a result, I improved in my second semester and achieved 3.93 GPA. Thankfully, in this semester, I scored A1 in all the subjects and was top 5 for Chemistry and Additional Mathematics and received a certificate for being ranked first in Biology. I am proud that I am always hand-picked by the teachers to be the mentor for extra classes in recognition that I excelled in most of the subjects. I was also chosen as one of the six facilitators for the annual English Getaway programme due to my proficiency in the English language. As the top student in my class, I am considered the benchmark for the success of others. I am also well renowned among my fellow friends for my academic achievement and I do assist them every time they seek my help. Currently, I am also one of the candidates for the Mathematics Olympiad. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. Being excellent in academics does not mean I do not excel in other aspects. I also excel in extra-curricular activities. I am one of the 46 members of the Student Disciplinary Board in MJSC Tun Ghafar Baba. I am entrusted with a great responsibility to ensure a high standard of discipline among my fellow students. As a member of the Student Disciplinary Board, I have to lead by example which means I myself have to be much disciplined. I was nominated once as one of the candidates for the Student Representative Council but I lost by a narrow margin in the election. In sports, I am selected for the school basketball team. My ability in playing basketball is recognized by the coach and my teammates. Besides basketball, I am also proficient in other sports like tennis, volleyball, football and badminton. I took up martial arts and today, I am a proud black belt holder in taekwondo where the tough training regime helps to strengthen me mentally and physically. I am now one of the candidates for the upcoming taekwondo tournament. My most remarkable achievement so far is qualifying as a finalist in the International Sustainable World (Energy, Environment & Engineering) Project Olympiad which will be held in Houston, Texas on the 14th of April 2010. I believe this event will provide me with a good exposure and a solid opportunity to increase my confidence in public presentation. It is a great honor to represent MJSC Tun Ghafar Baba and Malaysia to compete globally with other countries around the world. Some people dream to be an astronaut. Some people dream to be an F1 driver. Some people dream to be a billionaire. But my greatest dream is to enter an Ivy League university and become a successful nuclear physicist someday. I believe I am determined and worthy. If I set my eyes on something, I go for it, because obstacles are only things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. If given this golden opportunity, I will surely utilize it to the fullest. Honestly, I believe that I am the best candidate for this scholarship. In a few years time, I know that I will return to Malaysia, graduated from a prestigious university and ready to serve my country, my religion and humanity. I will not let you down. I am your best man.

Awad bin Fadzlul Rahman. That was the name given to me, a boy born on 2nd June 1993 as the second child of my intercountry-marriage parents. Living and growing in two countries, namely Malaysia and Singapore had set my eyes wide open upon the ideas of education, achievements and life. I studied at Pasir Salak MARA Junior Science College for a semester in 2006 after I managed to get straight A s for my UPSR examination. Then, I had transferred to Mersing MARA Junior Science College after having severe illness. I finished my study for lower secondary there with straight A s for all eight subjects that I sat for during the PMR examination. I graduated from Mersing MARA Junior Science College with a CGPA 3.97 and achieved 4.00 for four out of six semesters. Tun Ghafar Baba MRA Junior Science College is my current school and I am taking 10 subjects for my SPM examination, nine basic subjects with an addition of Principle of Accounts. For my first semester, I succeeded to achieve 3.86 and it improved to 3.90 for my second semester. That makes my CGPA 3.88. Co-curricular involvements are not set apart in my life as a student of Tun Ghafar Baba MARA Junior Science College despite being excellent academically and undergoing tight daily schedule. I represented this college in The Star MAG INC workshop. Besides, I participated in the National Science Challenge quiz. I am also an active member of the college drama team. I participated in the Drama Festival for Southern Zone Language Week and the team won Best Drama. Other than that, I also competed in the Drama Festival for National Language Week. The team won the Best Costumes award and Second Best Drama. Currently, I am the Communication and Information Exco of the Students Representative Council 09/10 after being successfully elected via students election. I am also the President of my homeroom, Zamrud 2. Lastly, I am an active member of Tennis Club, Persatuan Silat Seni Gayung Malaysia and Japanese Language Club. My long-term goal is to be an investment banker and get involved in the business and finance field with hopes to make my country, Malaysia a greater economic power as a way to give back my love to my family, friends and the community in terms of financial empowerment. Hence, the purpose of each day of my life is to love and enjoy what I do and improve myself academically and professionally to eventually lead a successful career that I aspire to achieve. I have a belief that I shall not worry of my preparation for something by looking at how great the others are preparing as long as I am definite with what I had prepared. There is no limit in what I do. Whatever I do, I shall succeed. Every single day, I act upon my final goal that is success and happiness. My uttermost strength is the fact that I have strong belief in who I am, what I have and what I want. I am a passionate person. Here, at Tun Ghafar Baba MARA Junior Science College, I took Principle of Accounts for my additional subject. Despite the fact that at first I failed to perform my very best, I kept on trying because I have passion in the field of business and finance. I did not drop the subject out though it is a major barrier for me to achieve the hard-to-get 4.00 since I am very sure that I love business and finance, and I am ready to sacrifice for the sake of it. I know what I want.In return. I did manage to perform splendidly for the subject. Secondly, I am unique and I have unique survival skills. I had survived a near-death experience and people who undermined my capabilities due to my ethnic difference. I have different ethnic background that is not explainable to my peers. Hence, I had faced some challenges regarding this fact. My peers once believed that I shall be treated differently due to the fact that I am different. However, I had proved this untrue when I tried to socialise and communicate with them. They found out that I am different but I deserve to get the social status equality as they do. In fact, I have lots of friends who trust me and gives total support in everything I do. I did the same. I am even lovable by my peers despite being different thus they showed their trust by supporting me to be one of the Students Representative Council. Regarding this issue, I too do not discriminate people by their skin colour, race, sex, sexual orientation, political views, faith and other personal points of views. This is a prove that I can survive with any challenges or discrimination which is a definite test if I get the chance to study overseas especially in the world Top Ten universities. Last but not least, I have varied communication language choices. I am fluent and proficient in my first and second languages which are Malay language and English either verbally or in written forms. In addition to those languages, I have basic in Arabic, Japanese and Mandarin and I have plans to master all these languages as my third and extra language especially Mandarin. This is due to my realisation that Mandarin is an effective tool of communication in business and finance since the rise of China as the world economy power. Hence, my varied communication skills will help me to shine in my interested field which is business and finance and enhance my communication with other people. I am definite with who I am, what I have and what I want. I have strong belief in myself as my motto goes Believe in the magic of believing . I am looking forward to further my studies in Business, Finance and Law in pursuing my dream to be an investment banker.
