THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD
Mother Earth was good and beautiful. She married
Uranus, the Sky. He was big and strong. They had
twelve children, the Titans, six brothers and six
sisters. Then Mother Earth had six more sons: the
Cyclops and the Giants. They were monsters.
Uranus put the monsters in a prison, in the centre of the Earth. Mother Earth was sad. One of the
Titans, Cronus, helped his brothers. Cronus and Uranus had a fight and Cronus won the battle.
Cronus lived with his brothers and his wife Rhea on top of Mount Olympus. Cronus ate his
children. When his son Zeus was born, Rhea took him to an island and gave Cronus a stone.
Zeus had a fight with Cronus and he freed his brothers and sisters.
These paintings represent a part of the Myth.

HALLOWEEN
HALLOWEEN is a very popular American and English party. It is
celebrated on October 31. The Druid priests of ancient Britain believed
that witches, demons and spirits of dead people roamed on the eve of
November 1.
To protect themselves from bad spirits, the Druids offered them things
to eat and disguised themselves with masks, so from bad spirits would
not harm them.
The Catholic Church designated the first day of November to honor All
Saints or All Hallows. The night before All Saints Day was called All
Hallows Even. The expressions All Hallows Even was reduced to
Halloween.
Nowadays…
- Trick or treat!
Advise: give them some money or candy or they may put some dirt on
the walls of your house.
