According to legend, Lord Vishnu took the form of a man with the head of a lion. As a result, Lord
Narasimha is regarded as a symbol of power and strength. The primary purpose of his incarnation on
Earth was to kill Hiranyakashipu, the most ferocious demon of the time.
The word “kavacham” literally translates to “armour”. This Narasimha Kavacham mantra functions as
a shield to safeguard the welfare of his devotees, much like soldiers wear bullet-proof armour to defend
themselves from lethal weaponry.
