Abstract
The Augmented Reality is generally experienced through gaming, creating
immersive gaming experiences that utilize your actual surroundings. Imagine
shooting games with zombies walking in your own bedroom! AR got a lot of
attention in 2016 when the game Pokémon Go made it possible to interact with
Pokémon superimposed on the world via a smartphone screen.

1 Introduction
• The basic idea of augmented reality is to superimpose graphics, audio and other
sensory elements over a real-world environment in real time to augment the
reality.
• It does not tear you off the real physical world, but enriches it by adding new
layers of data to a smart device.
• Common AR uses are Training and education, Entertainment, Gaming, Selling.
• For example, Inkhunter , is a tattoo app that allows users to see how their future
tattoo would look on their bodies.
• Display devices include Head mounted display, virtual retina, spatial, lens etc.
• Virtual reality replaces the real world • Augmented reality adds to the real
images, sounds and other sensations • It does not replace the real world, it
that replicate a real environment and just adds something, you can still see

TYPES OF AR APPLICATIONS
• Marker-based applications
They use predefined markers to trigger the display of AR overlays on top of the image.

Location-based AR apps detect the user's position with the help of a GPS, an accelerometer, or
a digital compass and overlay the augmented reality objects on top of real physical places.

Strike and Call of Duty are now able to face their enemies in the real world, and not just on the
computer screen.

4 Conclusion
It remains undeniable that the immersive nature of Augmented Reality technology combined
with modern gaming threatens to blur the lines between what is real and what is artificial. While
we cannot stop technology from advancing because of fear, it is important to make informed
decisions regarding products that are certain to achieve mass public consumption.
