    Abstract
    The Augmented Reality is generally experienced through gaming, creating
    immersive gaming experiences that utilize your actual surroundings. Imagine
    shooting games with zombies walking in your own bedroom! AR got a lot of
    attention in 2016 when the game Pokémon Go made it possible to interact with
    Pokémon superimposed on the world via a smartphone screen.

    1 Introduction
    • The basic idea of augmented reality is to superimpose graphics, audio and other
    sensory elements over a real-world environment in real time to augment the
    reality.
    • It does not tear you off the real physical world, but enriches it by adding new
    layers of data to a smart device.
    • Common AR uses are Training and education, Entertainment, Gaming, Selling.
    • For example, Inkhunter , is a tattoo app that allows users to see how their future
    tattoo would look on their bodies.
    • Display devices include Head mounted display, virtual retina, spatial, lens etc.

    Virtual Reality Augmented Reality

    • Virtual reality replaces the real world • Augmented reality adds to the real

    that replicate a real environment and just adds something, you can still see

    2 Literature Survey
    TYPES OF AR APPLICATIONS
    • Marker-based applications
    They use predefined markers to trigger the display of AR overlays on top of the image.
    • Location-based applications
    Location-based AR apps detect the user's position with the help of a GPS, an accelerometer, or
    a digital compass and overlay the augmented reality objects on top of real physical places.

    TYPES OF AUGMENTED REALITY GAMES

    Augmented reality games are becoming a front-runner of gaming industry.AR games


    allow you to fight aliens, capture fantastical creatures, defend kingdoms in the real world.
    All of this is possible without super expensive headsets – just an AR-enabled smartphone
    or console is required.
    Adventure Augmented Reality Games
    Geolocation games / Adventure AR games are the most exciting genre in the world of
    augmented reality games. They use the real-world maps and locations as the gaming
    environment augmenting them with unique plot, fantastic creatures and amazing quests.
    Using the GPS enabled smartphone, the player moves around the neighborhood and
    completes different tasks. This is a great opportunity to immerse the invented worlds in
    reality.
    JURASSIC WORLD ALIVE
    This game has prehistoric wild creatures running around modern cities. You can explore the
    spots around you on a map and find woolly mammoths, velociraptors etc. Collect enough items
    and you’ll be able to create your own raptor and share it with other players.
    POKEMON GO
    This legendary project by Niantic which has made Augmented Reality games a real thing popular
    among millions of users, is still going strong. Pokémon GO is an adventure type of mobile game,
    which places the battlefield on the real surroundings and superimposes virtual animate objects
    into user’s environment. Go for a walk, wander in the streets and search for landmarks where
    you can capture these fictional creatures known as Pokémon. This constantly uses your phone’s
    GPS and frequently accesses your phone’s camera.
    AR shooting games

    Shooters are considered to be the most popular genre in the gaming world. Fans of Counter
    Strike and Call of Duty are now able to face their enemies in the real world, and not just on the
    computer screen.
    THE WALKING DEAD: OUR WORLD
    A first-person zombie shooting AR game with spectacular fights on display in physical
    surroundings. Point a camera to random spots and when zombies appear shoot them in the head.
    Team up with friends if you’d like a multiplayer shooter action and get as many points as possible
    to win.
    FATHER.IO
    It is the world’s first real-life, massive multiplayer game combining real time geo-localized
    strategy and first-person shooter battles. You need to plug the inceptor into your smartphone and
    the battle begins. In order to play in first person shooter mode, you need at least another person
    (equipped with an inceptor device) to play against. With an inceptor , game play happens in real
    life ,with real people, and hitting real enemies.
    Sport AR games / Quests
    Being a sport fan in real life you’ll definitely like the possibility to go in for it in Augmented
    Reality. With sport AR games Android/iOS you’ll be able to play basketball, racing or add
    some more adrenaline into morning run.
    AR SPORTS BASKETBALL
    The augmented reality game AR Sports Basketball by the Belgian Triangle factory tech company
    allows you to shoot hoops just like a basketball player, in any location or time. Point your phone,
    find the area to place the hoop, it will appear on your screen, aim and shoot the ball individually
    or between Player 1 and 2.
    AR board and educational games, networking apps
    AR SOLAR SYSTEM
    Augmented Reality Solar System places a realistic solar system inside your room and see the
    motion of the planets and how they rotate along their orbits. It is a virtual journey through space
    in our solar system, you will have the possibility to visualize with the new technology of
    Augmented Reality by each planet of our system and to learn of them like you never did before.
    It is made by using Unity and Vuforia.

    3 Results and Discussion


    • The reach of the augmented reality game could be witnessed by merely looking
    around in public - players could be seen walking, detached from everything around
    them, staring down at their smartphones as if it contained another dimension they had
    temporarily escaped into.

    • Gaming at its core is and has always been about transporting oneself into another
    world, another reality, by leaving one’s own self behind and stepping into the shoes of
    another (mostly fictional) character.

    • AR in gaming allows us to virtually leave our lives and instead live as the characters
    we chose inside the game.

    • However, unfortunately in this case, the biggest Augmented reality Technology,


    which is its completely immersive nature, also happens to be its greatest peril.

    • Besides the massive addiction upscale that it caused, to an extent that people started
    quitting their day jobs to have time to play the game, the outdoor nature of the game
    has caused thousands of accidents.

    • Location based Augmented reality gaming requires players to be at outdoor locations


    for the game to render the reality they see into the Pokémon World.

    4 Conclusion
    It remains undeniable that the immersive nature of Augmented Reality technology combined
    with modern gaming threatens to blur the lines between what is real and what is artificial. While
    we cannot stop technology from advancing because of fear, it is important to make informed
    decisions regarding products that are certain to achieve mass public consumption.
