Today I will introduce you to a delicious dish not to be missed when visiting and traveling to big cities such as
Hanoi or Ho-chi Minh City, that is ‘Bun Cha Hanoi’.
Well, I must say that this topic really interests me. I feel like upon speaking about Vietnamese food, everyone
would mention “Pho”. If ‘Pho’ is world best well-known for a bowl of flat rice noodles with beef or chicken
broth, then ‘bun cha’ is round rice noodles served with a bowl of dipping sauce with grilled pork, pickles and
greens. That is the reason, Bun Cha Hanoi is a favorite delicious dish of many people and which is also the dish
that I am bringing up to today’s topic.
If you are to sit down at a bun cha street stall during busy lunch hour. First, you can already smell the mouth-
watering grilled pork patties and pork belly. A plate of pearly white rice vermicelli, a basket with all sorts of
greens, a bowl of dipping sauce with some sliced pickled carrots and green papaya, and of course, those
beautifully charred pork pieces.
The carefully marinated grilled meat is served with vermicelli, and a variety of fresh vegetables; which, all
together, create an overall harmonious of the dish. Once you taste it, you will never forget the flavor of this
“heart-breaking” meals that can only find in Hanoi.
Bun cha from Hanoi was recently voted by CNN as one of the world’s most delicious summer dishes.
In 2016, the image of the world’s most powerful man: Mr. US President Barack Obama and chef Anthony
Bourdain in Hanoi eating ‘Bun Cha’, drinking a cold beer with a simple and elegant white shirt in Vietnam has
become one of the most impressive highlights in people hearts for a long time after that. For weeks later,
national and international newspapers still discussed the meal as well as the delicious flavored of vermicelli
dish.
In conclusion, ‘Bun Cha Hanoi’ is the most popular food for its pleasant taste and reasonable price. Foreign
tourists visit Vietnam they really like the taste of ‘Bun Cha Hanoi’.
Perhaps today in any talk about Hanoi cuisine, ‘Bun Cha Hanoi’ often comes up as a favorite of many
generations of the Vietnamese. The dish is simple but boasts a very special flavor that never gets boring. Bun
Cha Hanoi, as the name suggests, is a typical specialty in Ha Thanh land. The dish is not only very popular with
locals but also has become quintessential a “must try” dish of many tourists when coming to Hanoi
Throughout the history, I am very proud of it that our Vietnamese people still maintain and embrace their own
culture. In the near future, I am hoping that Bun Cha Hanoi will be more well-known and famous in other
countries, so that the foreigners can enjoy this cuisine and understand about Vietnamese culture.
