ACTIVITY 1 Movie Review

1. What qualities of a teacher does Anne Sullivan possess?

Anne Sulivan does possess a quality that all of us must need to possess which will be our tool to become more
compassionate, loving, and a professional teacher. These are the Qualities that I saw in MS. Anne Sulivan. She has a
great Positive Attitude, determination, Hope, Kindness, Tolerance, Persistence, compassion, and charity to her student.

2. How will you rate her dedication to helping Hellen Keller live? Why?

Out of 10, I will give Anne Sullivan a perfect 10. Because she provides Hellen Keller with Hope to live because of her
dedicated caretaker, defender, teacher, and lifelong friend. She knows her capacity as a child even though she was not
her parent she understands what her needs are and how she can be taught her maybe because of her experiences in
teaching special learners, her passion to teach, and her compassion toward Hellen Keller.

3. Write a 20-sentence analysis of the movie/story. The analysis should center on Anne Sullivan’s traits as a
teacher.

The Miracle Worker is a movie about Helen Keller, a little girl in the movie who was deaf and could not also see. Her
childhood is interesting and very inspirational. It shows that people like Helen should not be pitied but treated the same
way as others. Her parents treated her as special and lost hope that she cannot have a normal life because of her
disabilities that is why her family let her do what she wanted which made her a spoiled brat. She kept on having
tantrums every time she does not get her way. She was not properly conditioned. Even though she did something bad,
her mother still gives her a reward such as candy which makes the child think that what she is doing is okay.

The movie tells us that it is very important to have patience and to believe. Annie Sullivan, Helen’s teacher the miracle
worker. Who believed that Helen are smart and that she is not a hopeless case. She was patient in teaching Helen. And
because of her determination and perseverance to help her learn, she succeeded. As a result of her motivation to teach
Helen Keller graduated from Radcliffe College and became a world, famous advocate for social equality. She was also
awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

At the end of the movie my realization is that as long as we believe, it is possible. And that we should not easily give up
on what we believe in.

Here is some of my other realization about the movie,

"Life is either a great adventure or nothing." Helen Keller

In our life there is no perfection there is an obstacle that we must all face, and success that we all can
experience, but life is not linear. There are ups and downs, twists and turns. There were many challenges for every one
of us, but if all of us overcomes all those challenges or our struggle then it makes it worthwhile. Either life is an
adventure, or there isn’t any. It is life’s challenges and uncertainties that make it alive. Our challenges often push us to
do things we never thought possible. The uncertainty in life often pushes us to reach beyond our capabilities. The only
option in life is either to take a measurable risk or to do nothing at all. When we become too accustomed to our comfort
zone, it becomes our real discomfort. The Story of the miracle worker is one of the great examples of how we can
motivate ourselves to be more positive and continue to be patient in our lives. It also thought us about perception and
prejudice, the importance of communication, perseverance, patience, love, and letting go. The movie describes how to
be strong as a teacher, how to overcome our own disability, learn, grow, and become somebody new. It is good to know
who you are and what you can do yourselves to reach the level that you want in life.
