1. Forces of 5√2 N and 6√2 N are acting on a body of mass 1000 kg at an angle
of 600 to each other. Find the distance covered, acceleration and velocity of
the mass after 10s.
(Ans: 0.01349 m/s2, 0.1349 m/s, 0.6745m)
2. A stone of mass 5 kg falls from top of a cliff 50m high, and buries 1m in
sand. Find the average resistance offered by the sand and the time it takes
to penetrate. (Ans: 2450N, 0.064s)
3. A cricket ball of mass 150g moving with a velocity of 15m/s is brought to
rest by a player in 0.05s. Calculate the impulse and average force exerted by
the player. (Ans: -2.25Ns, -45N)
4. A bomb at rest explodes into three fragments of equal masses. Two
fragments fly off at right angles to each other with velocities 9 m/s and 12
m/s respectively. Calculate the speed of the third fragment. (Ans: 15m/s)
5. A ball of mass 1 kg hangs in equilibrium
from two strings OA and OB as shown in
the figure. What are the tensions in the
string OA and OB? Take g=10m/s2.
(Ans: T1=5N, T2=5√2 N)
