POVERTY

Poverty in the Philippines is one of the most serious problems that the government must
deal with. Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food,
clothing, and shelter. However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money.
In addition to a lack of money, poverty is about not being able to participate in recreational
activities; not being able to send children on a day trip with their schoolmates or to a birthday
party; not being able to pay for medications for an illness. Those people who are barely able to
pay for food and shelter simply can’t consider these other expenses. When people are excluded
within a society, when they are not well educated and when they have a higher incidence of
illness, there are negative consequences for society. We all pay the price for poverty. The
increased cost on the health system, the justice system, and other systems that provide support to
those living in poverty has an impact on our economy. Poverty entails more than the lack of
income and productive resources to ensure sustainable livelihoods. Its manifestations include
hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and other basic services, social
discrimination and exclusion as well as the lack of participation in decision-making. Having
poverty is unfair, unethical, and dangerous. The Philippines should abolish poverty because its
people deserve to be free of it. In relation to its nature, poverty in the Philippines arose from the
rapid population growth in the country. Its effects of it are very visible in nature. Poverty causes
many Filipinos to not pursue their education. Others seem to be contented with their lives as
poor. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to school because, of the financial
problems.

There are a lot of causes of poverty but there are also a lot of possible solutions. I'll
recommend 9 possible solutions for the poverty in our country. These are first, the growing
population in our country must be lessened, providing birth control to the poor. In a radical move
for the heavily populated country. Providing birth control is a powerful tool for families who
now have full control over family planning. The hope is that by giving the women and family
units more control, they will have fewer children. This, in turn, will mean that families can
provide more responsibly. Second, Increase income and employment. create jobs or provide jobs
for the unemployed, the government should come up with a plan for the unemployed. Programs
designed to assist low-income people to increase their income are critical to supporting housing
stability. Third, Access to quality education provides children with the knowledge and life skills
they need to realize their full potential. It’s also essential to create change in a child’s life.
According to UNESCO, if all students in low-income countries had just basic reading skills
(nothing else), an estimated 171 million people could escape extreme poverty. If all adults
completed secondary education, we could cut the global poverty rate by more than half.
Education develops skills and abilities, corrects some of the imbalances that come out of
marginalization, and decreases both risk and vulnerability. Fourth, Proper health insurance is
vital in order to build wealth and escape poverty. Since treatments in hospitals are often quite
expensive, people have to be covered through health insurance since they would have large
amounts of debt otherwise. Moreover, many people would also be not able to afford medical
treatment at all, which may lead to serious health conditions or even death. Therefore, high-
quality health insurance is crucial to fighting poverty and the related adverse effects. Fifth, let's
expand child care subsidies, it can help low-income parents ensure the healthy development of
their children while working to support their families. Sixth, let's support environmental projects
and programs. Natural disaster often leads to the destruction of many buildings and a loss of
livelihood for many people. Seventh, Mitigate corruptive actions since it often leads to excessive
wealth for a few people but leads to poverty for the majority of locals. Governments and local
authorities should take serious measures in order to fight this problem. Eight, Governments
should set minimum wages at least at a level that workers are able to afford basic things for daily
life. This also includes being able to pay for proper health insurance and social security. By
doing so, people are covered for the most important basic needs and can try to escape poverty
from this point on more effectively. And lastly, Engaging in community programs that aim to
fight poverty would be another step you could take in order to mitigate the problem. Even though
it is only a small contribution, it could still improve the life of a few people who may be thankful
for your support for the rest of their life.

We can resolve this problem if we give attention, especially to the government. I believe
that it requires a focus both on what government needs to do and what individuals need to
do. With all of us taking responsibility for our actions having family planning before you make a
family is a very big help to lessen the population. When they increase the income and
employment in our country a lot of people can provide for their basic needs, and they can have
an access to quality education which provides the children with the knowledge and life skills
they need. They'll develop skills and abilities. When we have proper health insurance we can
afford expensive treatments and we will not get into huge debt just to treat our illnesses. Many
people would not be able to afford the hospital bills and it can lead to death. If we take care of
our mother nature and support various environmental projects and activities then the natural
disaster will not destruct our houses, buildings, infrastructure, and livelihood. Let's also engage
in our community, those community that needs more help. We can do a community feeding
program to help malnourish kids. We can also donate some of the things that we didn't use. We
can help to teach the community simple business ideas. With all of us helping we can overcome
this poverty. It is a very big issue but we just need to cooperate and help each other.
