Poor Man’s Grave

By Eraserheads
(marxist critism)
Poor Man’s Grave is a song by Eraserheads and it was released in
1995. This song is about a man who lived poor and is hoping that when
he dies, he could at least experience a decent and nice burial so that all
his struggles and hard work could pay off. The writer of the song and
also a poor man that is being described on the song will benefit if this
work is successful or believed because they are the center of the song.
Some of them are born poor and some of them are middle class but as
they become successful, their social class came up but not super rich.
Low class is the work claimed to represent here, it’s obviously about a
very poor man and it’s showing all of us how a poor life can be, and
others can relate to it. It is never too late to improve and change our
life by learning how to handle our finances well even though we think
that we only earn a small income so that we are not to be poor for the
rest of our life. Instead of preparing for the future of his wife and his
children like for education, food, etc., by getting life insurance, he only
focuses on the things for the present but not for the future of his
family, imagine he will use up all of his savings just to have a grandiose
burial. Becoming poor is a choice. It may sound harsh but in everything
that happens to our life, it is our choice, no one is to blame but all of
our actions from the past. The poor man should have saved his money
instead of spending money on things that are not important. He never
creates a budget plan where he can use his money well so that he will
be out of poverty through saving money and eventually he can invest.
But he thought everything he did was right. It is very important that if
you want to get out of poverty, you need to become an optimistic
person. The social class that the characters represent are low class.
There will be discrimination like inequality. Admit it or not, rich people
receive more special treatment than the poor ones because they have
money and the poor ones have none. They even tease someone for
being poor and belittle them, and some of them were the richer ones
who think highly of themselves. That’s the conflict that will happen, it
will turn into chaos and there will be no peace if our mindset will stay
like that. We should always remember that dreaming big is not bad but
in order to reach our goal, we need to do something and think what's
best for ourselves. But we need to do this when we’re still alive because
that is the success that we’re aiming for.
