Hey, I'm Sarah!
After spending 6 years in Sales and Business Development, I left the
London rat race to build an online business of my own, so that I would
have the freedom to work and travel the world as I go.

Now I teach early stage service-based entrepreneurs and freelancers


the tools, skills and strategies they need to be able to sell with ease and
grow their business with confidence.

I know that many people will have told you that you need to attract
new clients and bring more money to your business, but few people
actually tell you how.

Before we dive in to the good stuff, take a moment to think about how
you've landed clients in the past. Obviously this has worked for you
before, so it will work again! Where did your last 5 clients come from?

My last 5 clients found me by...

If you're just starting out and you haven't landed any clients yet, write
down 5-10 people in your network (friends, family, ex-colleagues etc)
who could be a potential client for you, and who would benefit from the
services that you offer.

Ok, let's get your house in order...
Before clients will just magically land in your inbox enquiring about your
services and wanting to book, it's essential to have the basics set up
first! Here's 10 things to do to be ATTRACTING new clients.

OPTIMISE your bio! Include your name, who you help, and how you
help them. Use this template to get started:
"I help (insert ideal client) to (insert what results you help to
achieve) by (insert how you do it)"
Don't forget to include a CTA (call to action) in your bio!

Level up your BRANDING. Select 3-4 colours based on your target
audience, and use these consistently across all of your platforms. This
will help to create recognition of your brand with your audience.
Do the same with your fonts - choose 2-3 and stick to them.

Provide VALUE for your audience. Give your audience a genuine

reason to stay on your page, and to trust that you're an expert in
your field. An easy way to do this is to answer your audience's
questions. How is your content helping to solve their problems? What
FAQs do you usually get asked? What might be holding people back
before they work with you? – Address these in your content.

Provide EVIDENCE of the solution that you provide. The end result,
the finished product or project. Use different types of evidence -
photos, videos, reels, carousels. Demonstrate the value and the
impact on the your end client.

Provide SOCIAL PROOF. Testimonials, reviews and positive
feedback/comments. Share them! Post them! Make your
success stories easy to find – on your highlights (iG) or
scattered throughout your website. Ask your previous clients to
review you on Facebook or Google.

Build the KNOW, LIKE & TRUST FACTOR through your content! In

order for people to buy from you, they need to feel like they know
you, like you, and can trust you before they will spend money with
you. Use a range of content that shows that you are an expert in
your field, with some personal connection content to allow people to
get to know you and build a relationship with you.

07 PLAN your feed in advance to ensure that it looks good! It doesn't


have to be perfect, but a little bit of effort goes a long way. Use a
scheduling tool such as Later or Planoly to do this.

Use VIDEO CONTENT in your Marketing. Show the person behind

the brand, help people to get to know you as a person rather than
just the product/service that you provide. You’ve heard it before –
people buy from people. Video content (reels, tiktok, stories) is
MUCH more popular, make sure you're making the most of it!

Make it easy for people to BUY from you. Select 3-4 colours based

PROMOTE YOUR OFFER! People can't buy from you if they're not

sure what you sell! Use Call To Actions regularly in your captions, talk
about your services on your stories, talk about when you next have
availability and what it's like to work with you. Do you have a
special offer or incentive? Talk about it!

If you're saying "Yeah ok all of that is great Sarah but how will that help
me RIGHT NOW? Where I can look to help me land clients TODAY?"

I got you, my friend. There are plenty of ways to do lead generation


and outreach without having to do cold pitching in the DM's - nobody
likes that! You don't like it when people turn up at your door trying to
sell you, do you? Cold pitching is the same thing, but online. Unwanted
pitching is the quickest way to turn someone off your services.

So, let's look at what you CAN do right now to land new clients!

YOUR PREVIOUS CLIENTS
Check in with them. Ask how they’re doing. Ask if
there’s anything that you might be able to help them
with. You never know, there could be something that
they didn’t think to ask you for or didn’t find the time
to ask you. Remember - It's MUCH easier to get
repeat work than it is to find new work.

RECOMMENDATIONS/REFERRALS
People buy from people. And everybody likes to ask
their friend who they went with, because that
minimises the risk for us personally. Ask 5-10 people
in your network if they know of anyone who might
benefit from your product or service. Maybe you
could offer a referral incentive or introduce a
referral scheme with your current clients?

ATTEND AN ONLINE NETWORKING


EVENT
Before you shudder at the thought, I’ll remind you about
how important and valuable it is to show your face as part
of your marketing and building your personal brand. If you
attend an online networking event, you’ll get the chance to
meet new people and build new relationships. Those
relationships might blossom into clients, they might
blossom into friends. Either way – win win.

USE FREELANCER PLATFORMS
Collect evidence of your work and success
(portfolio and testimonials) and build a profile
on these platforms. UpWork, PeoplePerHour,
Freelancer.co.uk etc are good places to start.
This won't be the best paying jobs, but they will
help to build out your portfolio.

UTILISE LINKEDIN
This is a professional social network! If you
don’t yet have a LinkedIn profile, add this to
your to-do list immediately! Join relevant
groups where your ideal client is likely to be,
start conversations, position yourself as an
expert, grow your network.

FIND OPPORTUNITIES TO SHOW UP


ON OTHER PEOPLE'S PLATFORMS
Could you appear on a podcast episode? Guest
feature on a blog? Do a joint-live with someone?
Could you partner up with another person,
business or account that has the same target
audience as you but has a different offering so
that you’re stronger together? Pool your
audiences together - you both get the benefit.
Be visible in spaces other than your own.

START YOUR EMAIL LIST
Your email list is the easiest way to stay in touch
with people who are interested in your services,
or have bought from you in the past. Plus you're
more likely to be SEEN - the open rate for email
is MUCH higher than your engagement rate on
social media. If you've already started but
haven't been in touch - this is the sign you've
been waiting for.

ENGAGE YOUR AUDIENCE


Randomly select 10 people in your followers
and drop them a message, start a
conversation. Not hard selling, just genuine
interest. Go to your 'least shown in feed' list
and show them some love. Post polls,
questions, and interactive things on your
stories. Get people involved.

ASSESS YOUR WEBSITE COPY


Are the words on your website actually helping
you in search engine results? Is it optimised as
well as it could be? Do you have the right
keywords, copy and content in place to make
your website successful? Is your site coming up
high in the search results, or falling behind on
page 6 of Google? If so – it’s time to consider
working with a copywriter to help you change
that.

And finally....
BUILD URGENCY, CREATE FOMO!
Give people a reason to book now, create
that fear of missing out. Whether it’s a one-
time bonus, or a limited time offer before a
price increase comes in. Tell them what the
incentive is, how long it’s available for, and
what action you want them to take.
Examples of incentives include:
Giveaway, Competition, Price Increase (say when
it's happening) extra reward/added value for
booking early, or a discount (try to keep this as a
last resort, or avoid it all together).
