1) Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
— Those who are humble and recognize their spiritual poverty will experience God's
grace and be welcomed into heaven. To be humble is to be "poor in spirit." Knowing
that all of your blessings come from the love of God is what it means to be humble. In
order to carry out God's purpose, one must be humble in order to be open and at peace
within. Those who are humble are able to see their vulnerability, repent, and allow God's
love to lead them to redemption.
3) Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
— Those who are gentle and humble will ultimately receive God's blessings and the
meek would be granted far more than the proud and boastful. The ability to be satisfied
allows the humble to not only enjoy more of life on earth, but they will also possess and
enjoy the world following Jesus' arrival and return. Self-control is displayed by the meek.
It is a good reminder for us to be meek in the Lord's light and to obey him rather than to
rebel against him. Submitting to God's plan will provide both serenity and tranquility in
our lives.
4) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
— Those who passionately seek to live righteously will find satisfaction and fulfillment in
God. We have to keep on hoping in the promise of eternal righteousness in paradise
because of Christ. Jesus is not referring to any kinds of food we eat and drinks. Rather,
he is pertaining about having a strong will to carry out God's plan.
5) Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
— Those who show kindness and compassion to others will receive God's mercy and
compassion in return. We are bound to follow Christ's example, yet we are also able to
forgive those who sins against us just as much as He shows us mercy and forgives us
for our sins. Mercy is the goodness and righteousness of God toward individuals who
are struggling. Relations between us and a family member or neighbor will be at peace
if we show them love, empathy, and mercy.
6) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
— Those who are morally pure and have a sincere love for God will have a deep and
intimate relationship with Him. Acts of love and mercy, as well as the sense of justice
and righteousness symbols a pure heart. In a heart that is pure, there is no envy or
malice. To have a pure heart is to be free of any selfish motives. Jesus was the best
example of this since He gave his own life in order to save and brought salvation to
mankind.
7) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
— Those who work to bring peace and reconcile relationships will be seen as belonging
to God and will be a reflection of His character. In addition to leading peaceful lives,
peacemakers also strive to develop friendship, peace, and harmony among people and
between God and humanity. God is the source of peace, and He gives us the power to
spread it. When we make an effort to make peace between people, bring mortal
enemies together, and cooperate with one another, we demonstrate that we are
children of God.
8) Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
— Those who suffer for doing what is right and just will be rewarded with a place in
heaven and the fullness of God's kingdom. The saints and martyrs are an example of
people who suffer for the sake of what is right. The Kingdom of Heaven is our reward
when we endure suffering for Christ, just like the saints. We will be blessed for all
eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven even if we are oppressed for our faith in or devotion
to God.
