Without the help and cooperation of my family and friends, I would not have been
able to finish my research. As a consequence, I'd want to express my deepest
gratitude to my Mother, who has provided me with reassurance in terms of
knowledge as well as encouragement to accomplish this project. I'd want to thank
God for providing me with the health and strength I needed to finish my course.
SBA Title
The effects that social media have on student`s academic performance depending
on their gender.
Introduction
Social media networking is the most widely used mode of communication
nowadays. It is utilized by people from all walks of life. Social media was broadly
embraced by the public about a decade ago. There are a slew of online networking
sites to choose from. The primary goal of social media is to provide customers and
users with access. On the internet, they may converse with folks and form social
relationships. They can also use social media to communicate their thoughts and
personal information. Because of its ability to swiftly disseminate useful
information, internet networking has become the fastest growing mode of
association. Many industries have altered as a result of social media networking,
but the most noticeable influence is in classrooms and the educational system as a
whole.
With such a large percentage of students utilizing social media on a regular basis,
there is a pressing need to investigate the extent to which social media is
influencing pupils. There is no doubt that online networking sites, particularly
social media, have brought people closer together than ever before, but experts and
academics around the world have been looking for the flaws that its users may
have encountered. The use of internet networking has increased dramatically with
the introduction of cell phones. With the rise in the use of long-distance
interpersonal communication platforms, the face of traditional individual
cooperation has altered and will become more unique in the future.
The purpose of this research is to look into the core notion of social media
networking, as well as its relevance and use. The research will also look at how
students' usage of social media affects their everyday lives and how it affects their
academic and social success. Questionnaires were used to perform the study.
Method of Data Collection
The questionnaire has been chosen as the data gathering tool for this project.
Because the social media network environment can't be regulated until it's
specifically developed, the most appropriate and cost-effective option is to conduct
surveys of various students using questionnaires and collect their thoughts on
various affects. Special precautions have been made to protect the privacy and
security of student data. Only the most important and necessary information has
been acquired, and the rest will be filtered. The survey was short and to-the-point.
In order to satisfy the study goals, a questionnaire with a total of 21 questions was
sent out.

This experiment was carried out on a group of 30 pupils. A questionnaire was used
to collect data. Questionnaires provide direct information, are simple to conduct,
and take less time to complete. A total of 30 pupils were chosen at random. The
data collecting approach was deemed suitable since the questions may be crafted to
obtain only the information required for the inquiry. Because the surveys were
presented to randomly selected respondents to avoid bias, there were no errors.
Furthermore, the questions were worded clearly to avoid ambiguity and to make
them easy to respond. Thirty (30) questionnaires were given out to the students that
were randomly chosen for the investigation and all were completed and returned.

Analysis of Data
It is safe to say that the most common reason why students use the social media
network is to communicate with others. There are other reasons why such as
leisure, trend and personal benefit. When it comes to gender the boys Don`t let
their time on the internet affect their grades too much. For the girls they say that
they’re on the social network because of either curiosity, insecurity and
communication causing them to be on the net much more frequently than the male.
We can safely say that boys can manage both schoolwork and their online personal
life much better than females.
Discussions of Findings
Observation studies are investigations in which one merely observes the status of a
population, often using data gathered by sampling." Data from observational
studies are often not useful for investigating cause-and-effect relationships between
variables, even with sufficient sampling." The study revealed important details
concerning the association between student performance and average time spent in
extracurricular activities. It was discovered that the student's average grade was
70.87 percent. Following a closer examination of the data, it was discovered that
53.33 percent of the pupils observed had a grade that was higher than the norm.
Further investigation revealed that the modal average was 80 percent, since it was
the average that was acquired the most.
The central average amount was found to be 74%, this revealed that 50% of the
student observed scored 74% or below and also that 50% were scoring 74% or
above.
Conclusion
Long distances and a lack of infrastructure formerly limited the transmission and
free sharing of knowledge among persons. In any event, even these impediments
are no longer able to halt the flow of data and information. The new world of social
media networking allows for the free exchange of ideas, photos, videos, news,
business, brands, and other information.
When asked if they believe there is a privacy risk associated with using social
networking websites, more than half of the participants in the current survey
agreed. This issue was judged to be the most significant negative of utilizing social
media by male students. Female students, on the other hand, believe that the most
significant downside of using social media is that it has a detrimental influence on
their grades and studies.
As a result, it can be deduced that male students are aware of the issues
surrounding the privacy of their personal data when using social media. Female
pupils are more worried than male students about their grades. Social media use
has no discernible influence on students' real-life social lives or academic
performance. In fact, this research revealed that social media may be a useful
research tool for students and can aid them in their academics.
According to the findings of the present survey, the majority of students spend at
least 2 to 5 hours each day on social media. When asked if using any form of social
networking is necessary in today's world, more than 80% of students agreed.
Addiction to social media is a problem that must be handled in some way.
Teachers who need to utilize social media in their classes to improve students'
learning capacity should also be arranged such that students are empowered and
become active participants in the learning process. The assumption that children
understand how to use social media responsibly may be a barrier for pupils who
require more supervision. Through the social media channel, an e-learning system
may play a critical role in allowing students to collaborate and work together.
Overall, it can be concluded that, when utilized properly, social media can be a
very valuable tool for learning, sharing, and engaging in healthy activities.
