Cat® DEO Cold Weather
Best Performance and Protection for Cold Weather Applications
Cat® DEO Cold Weather is a synthetic diesel engine oil designed with an extremely stable
formula tailored to provide long-lasting engine protection over a wide temperature range,
-40° F (-40° C) to 104° F (40° C). The backwards compatibility of Cat DEO Cold Weather makes
it well suited for mixed fleets of new and old machines. When used in engines equipped with
emissions reduction technologies, Cat DEO Cold Weather delivers the full life and performance
of aftertreatment components. Cat DEO Cold Weather exceeds the performance requirements
of Cat ECF-3 (Engine Crankcase Fluid Specification) and the API CJ-4 and API SM categories.

Cat DEO Cold Weather takes the trouble out of starting your engine when temperatures are
very low. The special formulation flows readily at low temperatures, reducing startup wear and
improving fuel economy in some applications. The outstanding thermal stability and oxidation
Equipment Fluids

resistance of Cat DEO Cold Weather keeps engine components cleaner, further reducing wear.
In testing, Cat DEO Cold Weather was shown to reduce piston deposits by more than 30% and
to have more than 80% better viscosity control than ECF-3 standards. These results demonstrate
that Cat DEO Cold Weather will help lower your owning and operating costs through fewer oil
changes and repairs.
Benefits
• Easier Engine Starts — Excellent low temperature performance eliminates hard starts
• Reduced Engine Wear — Improved detergents keep engine components cleaner
• Minimized Deposits — Reduced oxidation breakdown and thermal degradation improves
stability which minimizes the formation of deposits, sludge and varnish
• Full Component Life — Specially designed additives deliver superior engine protection
while supporting consistent emissions performance and extending the life of
aftertreatment system components
• Extended Drain Intervals — When regular S•O•SSM Oil Analysis is utilized, long oil life
is possible
Applications
Cat DEO Cold Weather is the preferred diesel engine oil for low temperature applications.1
Cat DEO Cold Weather supports consistent emissions performance in engines equipped with
aftertreatment devices designed to meet: 2
• 2007/2010 On-Highway exhaust emissions standards (US)
• Tier 4 (US)
• Stage IIIB/IV (EU)
• Step 4 (Japan)

Diesel Engine Oil Oils
2926023
Cat® SAEO™
Recommended Use
• Cat Special Application Engine Oil is the only oil approved by Caterpillar for use in
the 3116 and 3126 Marine Diesel Engines with mechanical unit injection and a closed
crankcase ventilation system. This system circulates blowby gases from the engine
crankcase to the turbocharger inlet. These blowby gases can form harmful deposits
in the turbocharger and the aftercooler. Cat Special Application Engine Oil is designed
to reduce or eliminate the formation of these harmful deposits. 1
Discover the Difference
• Stops the buildup of deposits in the turbocharger compressor and the aftercooler that
can reduce power and cause an increase in smoke.
• Maintains stable oil consumption within the specified oil change interval and from
one interval to the next.
• Stabilizes functional chemistry throughout each service interval.
• Stops the buildup of deposits on pistons and rings that can increase oil consumption.
• Helps to eliminate the formation of deposits on pistons that are abrasive enough to polish
the hone pattern from the surface of the liners.
• Prevents the clumping of soot particles that can cause an abnormal increase in viscosity,
piston deposits, or sludge.

Reduced Piston and Cylinder Liner Wear
• High temperature deposit control properties prevent deposit buildup on pistons and piston rings to minimize scuffing,
scoring, and wear.
Increased Spark Plug and Valve Life
• Excellent detergent and dispersant additives protect against deposits and damage.
Corrosion Protection
• Acid neutralizers protect parts from rust and copper corrosion.
NGEO Advanced 40 provides optimum engine and oil life with low-sulfur gaseous fuels that contain less than 0.43 mg hydrogen
per mega Joule (0.35 mg hydrogen sulfide per BTU). NGEO Advanced 40 may be used in engines that use high-sulfur gas,
provided that shorter drain intervals are employed.

Cat® HYDO™ Advanced 10
6,000 Hour Extended Drain Intervals
Cat is introducing a new hydraulic oil to the fluid product line, Cat HYDO Advanced 10.
This new oil is a combination of premium additives and specially selected and controlled
higher quality base oils designed to provide extended drain intervals and extra protection
to hydraulic system components.

Cat HYDO Advanced 10 represents a significant performance breakthrough in hydraulic oil

technology. This oil has been developed with an optimized formulation that has been subjected
to severe qualification testing in the field and laboratory for thousands of hours. The result is the
best product available for Cat hydraulic systems.
Features & Benefits
• 6,000 hour extended drain intervals — up to the hours of Cat HYDO 10W when monitored
with Cat S•O•SSM Services oil analysis program-every 500 hours. Reduces owning and
operating costs and increases uptime.
• Enhances long lasting anti-wear protection — specially developed additives form a
protective layer on the wear surfaces, reducing component wear in high-pressure piston,
vane and gear hydraulic pumps.
• Holds water in dispersion — contains emulsifiers specially designed to disperse water.
Cat does not recommend oils that “separate,” “shed” or “release” water. Separated water
drawn through the hydraulic system can damage pumps and other components. If this
water freezes, it can cause serious damage.
• Backward compatibility — the only hydraulic oil you need to stock for your maintenance
operations. Preferred fill for Cat equipment.
• Improved filtration properties — special detergent dispersants keep components clean
Equipment Fluids

and improve transport of contaminants through the filters. Compatible with Cat Ultra High
Efficiency filters.
• Improved corrosion protection — protects metal surfaces from rust. Better corrosion
protection than most oils in the Cat line-up.
• Faster air release — rapid air separation reduces air release time, preventing cavitation,
Cat HYDO Advanced 10 air release time of less than 4 minutes is far superior compared
to Cat HYDO 10W at 7-10 minutes air release time (per ASTM D3427 testing).
• Wide temperature range protection — maintains consistent wear protection at both cold
and hot temperatures. Designed to flow readily at cold temperature start up, and maintains
excellent wear protection at operating temperatures.
• Improved oil stability — 250% increase in oxidation stability per ASTM D943. Improved oil
stability and wear protection make Cat HYDO Advanced 10 last longer.
