III. Directions: Answer briefly the following questions for 10 points each.

1. Discuss ‘Identification of Research Problem’ as first step in the research process.

Identifying the problem to study is the first and most essential step in conducting

research. It serves as the foundation of the research project and its process is a function of

determining a generic problem in the field of research study that can be investigated to

understand and find a solution to it. It begins with defining the research problem, how to

identify it and where to find it. Then it goes down to investigating the criteria for

selecting a good research problem and the approach that best fits in.

2. As an educator, what is the importance of research?

As an educator I’ll always aim to give the best I can to improve the learning experiences

of the learners. With that, I’ll always strive to find ways to address the current issues

we’re facing in the field of education and one best way to do that is to conduct a research.
The significance of research, particularly in education is to expand the existing body of

knowledge by giving solutions to various problems in pedagogy and enhancing the

teaching and learning practices. Research also intends to find answers to concerns

involving student’s academic performance, behaviors and to other factors that hinders the

learner to achieve their full capacity.
