*jump occures on appron or on toe of weir

*In practice this condtion hardly fulfilled because
little difference between actual and assumed value
of hydraulic properties of the structure and the
river will cause the jump to move from the
calculated postion
*Consequently some device to control the postion
of the jump is always neccessary 6.839552 2.652275 2.573026

*The jump will recede D/S to a point where the

flow condtions allow the jump to occure
*Jump moves away from scour-resisting appron
and will takes place on river chanal
*Remedy:-Use a certain control structure in
appron to ensure the jump occures within the
proteceted appron.
*For this case a slopping apron should be
provided in order to allow the jump to occur on
this apron at the toe of the weir by taking the
bed of the stilling basin below the river bed
level.
*depression in the downstream apron has to
be provided in order to accommodate Y2
*The dissipated energy as a result of the jump
becomes HL
*Summerged jump

Weir Protection
Inorder to avoid cracking and shearing of the weir and the apron during overflowing and incoming of
logs, RC of thickness 200 mm is provided with proper anchoring and capping.
The nominal reinforcement is taken as 0.15% of the concrete cross sectional area
per meter width.Hence Asteel=0.0015*1000*200
Asteel= 300
Hence Provide Ø12 @ C/C 400mm.
Actual area of steel=3.14*12^2/4*3 3= number of bars per unit meter with 40cm C/C
Actual area of steel= 339.12
Since Asteel=300m2<339.12m2
Covering of the reinforcement=50mm+12/2
Covering of the reinforcement= 56
The spacing of the reinforcement bar should be lessthan three times the effective
depth or 450 mm which is smaller of the two.
Effective depth,de=200-56
Effective depth,de= 144
Hence the actual spacing,400mm<3*144
The actual c/c spacing,400mm<432mm.Hence it is ok.
The spacing @ c/c should be account the diameter of the reinforcement when
intermidate smaller or larger size of the reinforcement is applied during actual
operation.
This capping should be applied for divide wall with reinforcement size of
F12 mm with C/c spacing of 300 mm.
Actual steel area=3.14*12^2*4/4
Actual steel area= 452.16 Since 314mm2>300,it is ok.
C/c spacing=300mm<3*(200-50-12/2)mm
C/c spacing= 300mm< 432
This capping detail is provided for the weir check the design
drawing for further information.
