Accela Cota
The process involves spraying of a solution of polymer, pigments and plasticizer onto a rotating
tablet bed to form a thin, uniform film on the tablet surface. The choice of polymer mainly
depends on the desired site of drug release (stomach/ intestine), or on the desired release rate.
Tablet coating is the application of coating material to the exterior of a tablet with the intention
of the conferring benefits and properties to a dosage form over the uncoated variety.
Types of coating:
1) Film Coating
2) Sugar Coating
3) Enteric Coating
Process of Coating:
Coating involves the deposition, usually by spraying a liquid coating system, of a thin film of a
polymer based formulation onto the surface of a tablet.
Accela-Cota Pan:
Accela Cota is a tablet coating machine that is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry for
the production of solid dosage forms such as tablets and capsules.
Accela Cota is an automated and computer-controlled machine that provides an efficient and
precise coating process. The machine has a high coating uniformity, and it can be programmed
to achieve specific coating thicknesses and to adjust the coating parameters such as
temperature, airflow, and spray rate. The machine's coating process involves applying a thin
film of coating material onto the tablet using a spray gun.
The Accela Cota machine is equipped with advanced features such as a HMI touchscreen
interface, a variable speed drum, and a programmable spray gun. These features make the
machine easy to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot. Accela Cota is known for its high-quality
construction, durability, and reliability. It is used by Platinum Pharmaceutical Company Pvt. Ltd.,
and it has become a standard machine for tablet coating processes in the Company.
In Accela-Cota, hot air is directed into the drum, is passed through the tablet bed, and is
exhausted through perforations in the drum.
Accela Cota pan is a fully perforated type pan. It contain blades, which helps during the mixing.
Inlet air is by a plenum contact with the top of the pan. Air is exhausted by a plenum located
below the pan.

Working Mechanism:
The working mechanism of a tablet coating machine typically involves the following steps:
1) Loading of tablets:
The tablets are loaded into the coating machine. This is done manually.
Overall, the working mechanism of a tablet coating machine involves the precise application
of a coating solution onto tablets, followed by a drying and inspection process to ensure
that the coating is uniform and meets the desired specifications.
1) Pan:
The Pan is rotating part of the Accela-Cota, the tablets and capsules are put into the pan,
then solvents is sprayed on the tablets and capsules which are coated with the mixture.
2) Hopper:
The hopper is a container that holds the tablets to be coated.
4) Coating pan:
The coating pan is a large, cylindrical container that holds the tablets and rotates to ensure
even coating.
5) Peristaltic pump:
This pump is used to deliver the coating solution from the reservoir to the spray guns or
nozzles. Pneumatic control of Accela-Cota is done by a separate VFD
6) Exhaust system:
The exhaust system removes excess solvent and dust particles from the coating machine
during the coating process.
8) Control panel:
The control panel includes the user interface for controlling the equipment, such as setting
the coating parameters and monitoring the coating process.
9) Filters:
Filters are used to remove impurities from the coating solution and prevent clogging of the
spray guns or nozzles.
10)Agitator:
The agitator is a mechanical device that helps to keep the tablets moving and tumbling
inside the coating pan.
13) Casing :
The casing (body) of Accela-Cota is made of Stainless Steel 316 L.
