As the system designer for Kueh Melaka Sdn Bhd, Ramli has worked closely with Mr. Ali and Mrs.
Fatima, the founder of the company to develop a new sales system. The new system enables
customers to key-in their order and made the online payment. After completion of the system analysis
and conceptual design phase, Ramli is now ready to proceed with the physical design.
One of the important physical design features is the output design. Mr. Ali requires the new output
design to generate report on the regular basis. This will help him to monitor the top saleable product
of the week. Below is initial output design for sales system report as proposed by Ramli.

Ramli also has proposed to the founders to use paper-based input to key-in data into the system where
customer can write-down their order before proceeding to online order. However, Mr. Ali asking him
to change to paper-less input to minimize the usage of paper. Ramli argued that paper-based input is
more suitable for Kueh Melaka Sdn Bhd since some customers might not be familiar with input
screen. Additionally, the founders also require Ramli to specify the suitable data storage for the new
system. Ramli has yet working on his proposal. You are the responsible to assist Ramli for the design.

a. Provide your comment to improve Ramli’s proposal on the sales system report by suggesting
to Ramli.
b. Explain the three (3) factors in selecting suitable data storage of the sales system for Kueh
Melaka Sdn Bhd.

B. DMR Technologies Sdn. Bhd. held an International award status since 2019. The company is
recognized as a pioneer in manufacturing a distinctive artificial intelligence (AI) toolkit for
accounting education. Thus, to sustain the company’s existence in the market, the maintenance
is considered as crucial and on-going activities that needed to be performed. This is aligned
with the research finding that suggested only 30% of the work takes place during the
development phase of any system life cycle, while the remaining 70% is spent for the system
maintenance.
a. Based on the above statement discuss two (2) reasons why maintaining systems is more
difficult than developing them.
