IMPORTANT NOTICE

Read this manual and all supplements carefully prior to installing,


operating or maintaining the Hydraulic Crusher.
Understand and follow the instructions carefully.
To avoid unnecessary injury or damage, always observe relevant laws,
regulations and safe working practices.

WARNING
Please pay attention to all of the safety measures and care of following
cautions.

1. Observe the instructions in the manual.

2. Keep periodic hydraulic oil service schedule. Contamination of hydraulic


oil cause malfunction and severe defect of the crusher as well as
excavator’s hydraulic pump, hydraulic motor and other hydraulic devices.

3. The defect/malfunction of the Crusher or any part thereof, which has been subject
to misuse, negligence, alteration, accident, or used in any way against this manual,
which, in the manufacturer’s option, adversely affects its performance shall not be
manufacturer’s responsibilities.

CAUTION

Do not take/get the head into the jow of hydraulic Crusher while Crusher is
being in unfolded.

The Crusher jow shall be kept in safe manner while it is not being in use.

1. Introduction

KOMAC is pleased that you have chosen a quality KOMAC Crusher.

Read this Manual carefully before operating the Crusher. It contains the necessary
information for safe and proper operation, routine servicing and preventive maintenance.

We also recommend that you carefully read the safety, operation, greasing and maintenance
in the manual before operating the Crusher. Do not neglect the service schedule that is
recommended.

Before operating this Crusher, operator(s) shall read this manual thoroughly and be familiar
with the safety precautions as well as obtaining proper instruction.

Keep the manual at your hand as reference. Remember, SAFETY FIRST.

For any additional information, please call to your local KOMAC Crusher Dealer.

● Safety Caution ●

The Safety Caution contains general information in safety and operation.


Read general information carefully and understand properly before conducting
operation, greasing, maintenance and repair.

● Operation ●

The Operation contains information in pre-operation and operation instruction.


The information in this manual is general operation instruction only, which is
recommended to build-up proper operational technique in hydraulic Crusher through
the experience.

● Maintenance ●

The Maintenance contains information for keeping hydraulic Crusher in the optimum,
and provides general maintenance and service procedures with illustration.

2. Safety Caution

Observe following caution for the safety in hydraulic Crusher operation.

▬ Pre-operation Caution

Read this manual carefully and understand all of the information provided in
the manual before operating hydraulic Crusher.

▲ Caution in hydraulic Crusher Installation

1. Before installing hydraulic Crusher, check if hydraulic piping is/are


appropriate in the excavator to install, and the minimum inner diameter of
the pipe is at least 25 mm.
2. Check hose coupling and hose(s) of hydraulic Crusher, and pay attention to
avoid scratch or any other damages and contamination in the adaptor screw,
which shall be connected with stop valve.
3. Understand all of the hand signals between operator(s) and assistant(s) prior
to installation of hydraulic Crusher to excavator, and carry out installation in
safe manner, observing worker’s hand signal(s).
4. Install hydraulic Crusher onto excavator, which is within its permissible
capacity range. The excavator shall be equipped with enough capacity to
lift up hydraulic Crusher.
5. Adjust relief valve to set proper pressure in hydraulic system for hydraulic
Crusher.

CAUTION
Do not put finger(s) or any part of mankind into pin hole in installation, and
only visual inspection is recommended.

▲ Caution in use of hydraulic Crusher

1. Use hydraulic Crusher for its intended and/or designed purpose only.
2. Install safety measures such as wire-mesh protection in the window of
operator’s seat in excavator to protect operator from the splinter/injury
while operating.
3. Allocate safety zone in the operation site, wider than excavator’s operation
range, and stop operation immediately, if once mankind or any object is
entered in the safety zone.
4. Ensure that only recommended (by excavator manufacturer or Crusher
manufacturer) proper type and grade hydraulic oil is/are used, and check if
viscosity of the hydraulic oil is appropriate.
5. Do not operate hydraulic Crusher, if temperature of hydraulic oil is over
80℃(176℉) or below -20℃(-4℉).

CAUTION
Do not put head or any part of mankind into jow of hydraulic Crusher, if
hydraulic Crusher is unfolded.

▲ Caution in Maintenance and Service

1. Practice periodic greasing the pin of the Crusher.


2. Practice periodic inspection of aperture of the cutter blade, and keep the
proper aperture according to its adjustment procedure.
3. Practice periodic maintenance and service schedule in this manual, and pay
special attention to any part that is weak to wear and/or damage.

CAUTION
When the hydraulic Crusher is transported and/or handled, the transporting
machinery shall be equipped with enough power and/or appropriate ropes.

▲ Caution in hydraulic Crusher un-installation.

1. Un-install hydraulic Crusher from excavator, if there is no any obstacle(s)


within excavator’s rotation range, and ensure that the ground is in level.
2. Be careful that the Crusher is falling down or collapsed while un-installing.
3. Be sure that stop valve is properly closed prior to disconnecting link hose.
4. Relief residual pressure in the hydraulic tank of excavator.
5. Attempting maintenance and/or un-installation of the Crusher after
operation is extremely dangerous, since the Crusher, including hydraulic oil,
pipe and body is hot, which may cause a burn.

CAUTION
Be careful with the burn in attempt to maintenance and/or un-installation of
the Crusher after operation since the Crusher, including hydraulic oil, pipe and
body is hot.

Do not attempt to adjust motor control

valve with your own discretion, which

regulates Crusher’s rotation speed. The

valve is shipped with proper flow setting

and adjustment by unauthorized person

is prohibited. Also, disassembly of the

Slewing Ring and Bearing with your own

discretion is prohibited.

Keep the manual at your hand as reference


and be familiar with the maintenance, safety
precautions as well as obtaining other proper
instructions prior to operation.

Greasing is an important factor in extending


the service life of many items on your
Crusher.

Practice periodic greasing in connector pin


of hydraulic breaker.

Lack of grease may cause abnormal wear of


the bush.

7. Installation
▲ Hydraulic Crusher attachment (to excavator)

1) Place Crusher on flat ground in secured manner prior to attachment and


detachment of hydraulic Crusher.

CAUTION
Be aware of the burn in maintenance, detachment and similar circumstances
after operation of the Crusher that hydraulic oil, piping and body are hot.

2) Tune bracket pin hole to excavator arm pin hole by moving excavator arm slowly.
While taking this procedure, keep the engine speed (rpm) at ‘CONSTANT’ and
manipulate slowly.

CAUTION

Do not put finger(s) or any part of mankind into pin hole in installation, and
only visual inspection is recommended.

3) Insert bracket pin in the arm with hammer, then fix the pin hole by manipulating
excavator bucket cylinder and then insert the other bracket-pin.

WARNING

Be aware of the injury and were safety shoes while in attachment or


detachment of the Crusher that bracket-pin may fall down.

4) Fasten stop-ring of bracket-pin with a bolt and nut.

5) Connect reciprocity hose after removing plug and cap in the hydraulic hose and
piping.

CAUTION

Check, if connection between hydraulic Crusher and excavator is in


appropriate manner.
The hose shall be maintained freely, after hydraulic hose is connected.
Do not touch hydraulic hose with sharp object.

6) Open stop valve.

8. Caution in Pre-operation

The hydraulic Crusher is designed for demolition and/or crush of concrete structure,
industrial structure, house, pier or the like by installing onto excavator.
The hydraulic Crusher is powered by hydraulic oil pressure from excavator and operated by
an operator with switch control.

WARNING

Improper operation may cause malfunction of the hydraulic Crusher.

CAUTION
Observe Excavator manufacturer’s safety instruction(s) and Hydraulic Crusher
manufacturer’s safety instruction while operating an excavator, installed with
hydraulic Crusher.

Be familiar with hydraulic Crusher’s operation manual.

Please confirm following safety measures prior to conduct an operation of hydraulic


Crusher.

CAUTION

Do not allow any mankind to be within a radius of at least 20 m while in operation


of the hydraulic Crusher.

CAUTION

Place appropriate splinter protection in the driver’s seat to prevent possible


injury from flying object/splinter during operation.

▲ Function Check

Manipulate hydraulic Crusher in up and down at maximum by excavator’s bucket


control to check interference of hydraulic hose and bending as well as interference
with excavator.

CAUTION

Confirm if the linkage between hydraulic Crusher and excavator is


appropriate.
The hydraulic hose shall be kept in free status.
Do not touch the hydraulic hose with sharp object.

● Function of the Arm (Jaw) in opening and shutting Check

Confirm if the hydraulic Crusher is properly operate by taking at least 5 times of


hydraulic Crusher’s arm manipulation in opening and shutting through controlling of
switch in the excavator cabin.

● Function status of the Arm (Jaw) in opening and shutting

For hydraulic rotary type, check if its rotation is appropriate by taking 360° rotation
in clockwise and anticlockwise with controlling switch in the excavator cabin.

9. Caution in Operation (Operation Instruction)


Please pay attention in the following example to obtain proper operation.

WARNING
Do not attempt to conduct inadequate operation or service, which may cause
an injury.
The service shall be performed by authorized personnel only.

1)
The excavator shall be on solid or
secured ground while in operation of the
hydraulic Crusher to avoid collapse or
falling down of excavator.

2)
Make sure that the base is solid enough
to support load of excavator while in
operation on the roof or structure to
avoid accident.

3)
Do not attempt to operate Crusher in
transverse/horizontal direction.
The excavator may collapse.

4)
Do not attempt to rotation of the
excavator while in crushing.
Hydraulic Crusher may get severe
damage.

5)
The crushing shall be taken from the top
to the base while in crushing structures
such as chimney, brick construction.
If necessary, big sized concrete/object
shall be removed properly, to avoid a
crash into excavator.

6)
Do not employee the Crusher as a lever.
It may cause fatal damage to the
Crusher, and extremely dangerous if big
concrete falls to excavator.

7)
Do not move and/or pull excavator while
the Crusher is holding crushing object.
It may cause fatal damage to the
Crusher.

8)
Do not attempt rotation of the Crush
while in crushing.
Do not attempt to shake the Crusher
while in holding crushing object.
These may cause fatal damage in boom
of excavator and/or the Crusher.

9)
Do not move excavator by using the
Crusher as support.
The load of excavator to the Crusher
may cause fatal damage to the Crusher.

10)
Do not attempt lifting operation with the
Crusher.
This may cause crash or damage to the
Crusher.

11)
Do not attempt hammering or hitting
object with the Crusher.
It may cause fatal damage to the
Crusher.

12)
Do not sweep crushed objects with the
Crusher.

13)
Do not operate the Crusher with
excavator’s cylinder of boom and arm in
end-ward of stroke.

14)
Take caution that the Crusher shall not
keep in touch with excavator’s boom
when folding excavator’s arm for
movement. Also, crushed objects may
damage to the cabin as well as personnel
injury.

10. Hydraulic Oil


Generally, the hydraulic oil, which is used in excavator, may be used in the Crusher
as well. It is recommended to check the oil volume/quantity, recommended by
excavator manufacturer, in the excavator prior to operation and refill or replace the
oil, if it is not enough or contaminated.

Specially, the oil consumption in the cylinder of Crusher is high at initial operation
of the Crusher after its installation, and need to check the oil volume after 2~3
operations and refill it if the oil is not enough.

Check viscosity of the oil, since the oil temperature would be higher in the Crusher
operation than normal excavator operation.

The oil temperature shall be in reasonable constant temperature while in continues


Crusher’s operation with consideration of excavator and environmental condition.
In such temperature, the viscosity of oil shall be within 30~60cST.

● Usage of Hydraulic Oil

For hydraulic devices in high temperature, high speed and high pressure.
For industrial machineries in special anti-abrasion.
For hydraulic machineries such as folk lift, excavator, loader.
For bearing, gear box in engineering machinery or industrial machinery
Shall be adequate for air and gas compressor in Screw Type and Vane Type.

● Oil Property

The oil should be superior in anti-abrasion, Pole pressure and anti-corrosion to


protect cylinder, pump and valve against abrasion and corrosion.

The oil should be superior in oxidization stability and heat stability without Varnish
Sludge in high-speed operation.

The oil should be able to protect pump and deliver accurate pressure with high
viscosity and anti-bubble property.

The oil shall meet the above-mentioned requirements.

CAUTION

Do not mix the oils with different brands.

CAUTION
The machine may not operate when the oil viscosity exceeding 1000cST or
under 15cST.
Observe excavator’s safety instruction.

▲ Operation Temperature

Hydraulic oil operation temperature is -20℃ ~ +80℃(-4℉~+176℉).


If the oil temperature is under -20℃(-4℉), raise oil temperature to the
recommended operation temperature by warming-up of excavator prior to operation
of the Crusher.

Stop operation when the oil temperature is exceeding recommended operation


temperature and wait until it cools down to the recommended operation temperature.

CAUTION

Do not attempt to disassemble when excavator is not properly operate, and


observe excavator’s maintenance procedures.

▲ Cooling System

The maximum permissible oil temperature is +50℃ ~ +80℃(+122 ℉~+176℉).

Therefore, a thermometer, installed in excavator is preferred to measure oil


temperature.
If not, it is recommended to install a thermometer in excavator.
The oil temperature depends on air temperature, cooling system of excavator and
nature of the Crusher’s operation being carried out. Continues operation of the
Crusher may require bigger cooling system in excavator than normal operation of
excavator.

CAUTION

Be aware that hydraulic oil and piping is extremely hot, which may cause burn
when having excavator examination.

11. Greasing
Practice periodic greasing on each connection pin of the Hydraulic Crusher with
adequate volume.

● Usage

General grease, widely used in automobile and general industry, with its best
performance in -20℃ ~ 130℃ (-4℉~+266℉), except where high load and high
shock load is applied.

● Property

The grease should be superior in oxidization stability and be able to use or store
under high temperature without hardening or deposits.

The oil should be with anti-load and lubrication film shall not deform under shock
load.

12. Warranty
The warranty for KOMAC Hydraulic Crusher, provided by KOMAC hereunder shall
extend either for a period of 9 months from the date of shipment to distributor,
determined by the date of bill of lading or for a period of 6 months from the date of
sales by distributor to the buyer, as determined by the date of distributor’s invoice
for the product to the buyer, whichever comes first.
However, the warranty for wearing parts as specified below shall extend 3 months
from the date of sales by distributor to the buyer, as determined by the date of
distributor’s invoice for the product to the buyer.

The warranty for spare parts shall extend 6 months, but shall extend until the end
of the Crusher’s warranty period.
In the event of any additional warranty terms and conditions, which agreed with
sales delegate or dealer, such additional terms and conditions shall not be honored
unless KOMAC Headquarters validate such terms and conditions in writing.

▲ Exception of warranty

▪ If the defect is caused solely or partly by improper use.

▪ If the defect is caused solely or partly by improper handling.

▪ If the defect is caused solely or partly by improper maintenance or service.

▪ If the product was used in conjunction with non-genuine KOMAC brand parts.

▪ If the defect is caused by an act of god, and negligence, intentional act and misuse.

13. Maintenance
▲13-1 General

The performance of the Hydraulic Crusher is greatly affected by the periodic maintenance in
the hydraulic system according maintenance instruction.

CAUTION
Observe safety cautions in maintenance and service.

CAUTION
Use adequate carrier and rope in operation or transportation of the hydraulic
Crusher.

Depressurize Hydraulic systems before maintenance and disassemble.

Observe following maintenance preparation.


▪ Close arm (jaw) of the Crusher.
▪ Place the Crusher on flat and clean ground securely.
▪ Close stop valve.
▪ Stop engine of excavator.
▪ Block with plug to avoid contamination after disconnection of hose link from the
Crusher.
▪ Hydraulic hose should not be on the ground to avoid damage or contamination.

CAUTION

Be aware that hydraulic oil, piping and body are extremely hot, which may
cause burn when having maintenance or service after its operation.

CAUTION

Do not put head into the Crusher’s spread jaw.

CAUTION

Do not adjust motor control valve, which controls rotation speed of the
Crusher and it is adjusted for optimum oil flow when the Crusher is shipped
from our factory.

▲13-2 Maintenance

▪ Check welded section for crack before and after operation.

▪ Practice periodic check for wearing of arm, cutter and tooth of the Crusher.
Worn out cutter and tooth should be replaced.

▪ Practice periodic check for loosened bolt, nut, pin fixing plate and stop-ring.

▪ Check cutter space, if it is exceeding 2mm. Observe cutter space adjustment


instruction in the manual when the adjustment is needed.

CAUTION
Read and fully understand Hydraulic Crusher manual.
Be aware that hydraulic oil, piping and body are extremely hot, which may
cause burn when having maintenance or detachment after its operation.

▲13-3 Cutter Replacement

Stop operation if cutter is damaged or worn out during operation and replace it with
new one.

Replace fixing bolt as well with genuine fixing bolt when replace the cutter.

CAUTION

Do not put head into the Crusher’s spread jaw.

Use tool in soft material for detachment of cutter.


Cutter is made of hard material and may create hazard metal object if metal hammer
is used.

CAUTION

Observe safety cautions/instructions while in maintenance.

CAUTION

Wear eye protection while in cutter replacement.

▲13-4 Cutter space check and Adjustment

▪ Close the Hydraulic Crusher’s arm.


▪ Measure cutter space with space gage (or rod in 2mm thick).
▪ Adjust the space, if it is exceeding 2mm.
▪ Normal space is 0.5mm~1.0mm. Insert SHIM PLATE through both side or one
side and assemble it, and then measure cutter space after closing arm.

CAUTION

Do not put head into the Crusher’s spread jaw.

CAUTION

Observe safety cautions/instructions while in maintenance.

CAUTION

Wear eye protection while in cutter replacement.

▲13-5 build up welding and Hydraulic Crusher’s Tooth welding
When lower section of arm in the Crusher is excessively worn out, the build up
welding is recommended according to below instruction.
First cradle fix welding and then second hardening layer welding as covering are
required in build up welding.

CAUTION

Wear protection against hazard gas, arc-beam.


Wear eye protection, mask, welding gloves, welding apron, safety shoes and
other welding safety protections.

● First cradle fix welding of the Crusher’s arm

▪ Welding rod:
Low Hydrogen type coating arc-welding rod
- The welding rod, containing extremely low hydrogen.

▪ Welding rod specification:

JIS D4316
AWS E7017

▪ Welding process:
① The welding rod shall be dried for 30~60 minutes at +300℃~+350℃(+572
℉~+662℉) prior to welding.
② Remove moisture, rust and paint in welding section.
③ Apply Backward or forward to avoid pore in arc section.
④ Keep arc length as short as applicable.

▪ Welding electric current:


Diameter of the welding rod is 5.0mm – Downward : 190A~250A
- Upward : 160A~210A

● Second hardening layer welding of the Crusher’s arm

▪ Welding rod:
Shock wearing and high manganese steel low Hydrogen type.

▪ Welding rod specification:

JIS DF3C-700-B

▪ Welding process:
① The welding rod shall be dried for 30~60 minutes at +300℃~+350℃(+572
℉~+662℉) prior to welding.
② Apply preheating welding for matrix in +150℃~+180℃(+302 ℉~+356℉).
③ Apply Backward or forward to avoid pore in arc section
④ Keep arc length as short as applicable.

▪ Welding electric current:


Diameter of the welding rod is 5.0mm – Downward : 190A~250A

14. Periodic Maintenance and Service Schedule


Observe below periodic maintenance instructions to obtain safety operation as well
as preventing damage of the Crusher and excavator.

▲ Daily checking
● Check for loosened or separated bolt and nut.

▪ Rotation section fixing bolts and nuts.

▪ Cylinder rod cover fixing bolts.

▪ Cutter fixing bolts.

▪ Pin plate fixing bolts.

▪ Screw loose prevention bolts.

● Check for worn out or damaged cutter.

● Check for slacken hydraulic hose link.

CAUTION

Reassemble slacken bolt by specified torque.


Replace damaged bolt promptly.
Failure to do so may result in accident.
Use genuine part, especially connection bolts and nuts in rotation section
which is essential on safety operation.

▲ Weekly checking
● Check for cutter space.

● Check for crack in welded section.

● Greasing in connecting pin.

● Check for noise from swing bearing in rotation section.

CAUTION

Do not put head into the Crusher’s spread jow.

▲ Periodic checking (every 100 hours or 6 months)


● Check for grease and seal in swing bearing of rotation section and
hydraulic motor.
● Check for contamination in cylinder rod cover.

● Check for hydraulic hose and connection link.

● Check for worn out connecting pin.

● Check for overall wearing in the Crusher.

CAUTION

Observe safety cautions/instructions while in maintenance.

▲ Hydraulic oil replacement

Hydraulic oil contamination may cause malfunction and part damage of the Crusher
and excavator as well.
Observe below recommended hydraulic oil and oil filter replacement schedule.

Hydraulic oil Every 600 hours

Oil filter Every 100 hours

(Based on 100% of the Hydraulic Crusher’s operation)

When the oil is contaminated before above schedule, the contaminated oil should be
replaced by new oil promptly in the oil tank, cylinder, piping and crusher’s cylinder.

16. Storage
Detach the Crusher from excavator and place breaker with fully spread arm as
illustrated below for long period storage.

Place the Crusher in flat with beam or thick wood.

Block link hose with cover to prevent contamination and place upward.

Securely fix the Crusher with wooden bar.

Apply enough anticorrosive in all the pin and arm (jaw) of the Crusher.

CAUTION
Be aware that hydraulic oil, piping and body are extremely hot, which may
cause burn when having maintenance or detachment after its operation.

CAUTION
Use adequate carrier and rope in operation or transportation of the hydraulic
Crusher.
