Experience

Team Lead & Sr. Software Engineer | SnapStream - April 2021 to present
Team Lead for SnapStream, a product built to record and search through TV broadcasts or other video sources, as well
as clip and share segments of content to Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and more. Imagined, designed, documented and led
the development of new or reimagined features while reducing tech debt through an agile process. Worked closely with,
and sometimes as a member of, the product development team steering the product’s direction and UX. Mentored less
experienced developers and set up best practices for front-end development and testing.

● Lead the design and development of a new AWS solution to capture OTT channels from a Vue/Tailwind UI
extending the product’s capability and opening it to new customer base.
● Crafted a design for migrating legacy front end to modern reactive UI framework both at a page and component
level by utilizing web-components, configuration driven UI and more: This enabled CI/CD outside the quarterly
software release cycle, reducing tech debt and increasing the ability to bring in current developer talent.
● Effectively co-lead a product / engineering cross functional team to experiment, prototype and vet new product
viability, resulting in the further pursuit of a market that was previously disregarded.

Team Lead & Sr. Software Engineer | SNC - July 2019 to April 2021
Led the development of a new web version of TRAX, which displays high volumes of real time data on 3D maps as that
data is moved through disparate communication systems. Interfaced with product leadership to effectively implement the
highest priority features, demo those features on a scheduled basis and partner with other application teams to integrate
our new product with existing legacy systems.

● Created approx. 90% of a new, large scale web UI using Vue, NodeJs, C#, .NET Core.
● Implemented low latency and on demand video playback with support to ingest and display UAV / sensor
metadata, allowing for the successful in-flight testing and deployment of the first production version.
● Drastically increased rendering performance of real time entities on a 3d map; From the prototype’s original 12 fps
for a few dozen items, to 200+ fps for thousands of entities.
● Built an augmented reality display for video playback, showing synchronized street lines, names, and other
geo-centric data matching features from customer’s discontinued software.
● Implemented multi 2d / 3d map library support to effectively accommodate customer needs.
Team Lead & Sr. Software Engineer | EchoStorm + Harris Corp - November 2006 to July 2019
Tech Lead for a front-end focused but full-stack team on Jawire, our flagship product designed to capture and browse
video, images, and other data provided by drones, satellite, mobile devices, and additional sources. Effectively released
numerous major versions of the front end over a 13 year span while continuously improving the design, UX and
technology used in its implementation. Lead the implementation of supporting services used to support the product
front-end for configuration, account settings, video playback requirements and more. Contributed to the product direction,
mentored developers, collaboratively designed UI/UX. Researched, evaluated and planned the integration of emerging
technologies.

● Designed and wrote a significant portion of the front-end and web-services for our product, Jagwire over more
than a decade effectively supporting customer needs across that time.
● Integrated many 2d and 3d mapping libraries (Cesium, WorldWind, Google Maps, etc) extending their base
capabilities, culminating in the ability to show geo based summary information and then drill down to details for
millions of assets all in real time.
● Created Leto, a component centric UI toolkit, used in Jagwire and other products, consisting of independent UI
widgets which can work together or independently to build additional apps or integrate Jagwire capabilities into
customer’s existing products.
● Created a custom thumbnail scrub bar for the video player, which gave customers the ability to quickly and
effectively make fine tune adjustments for frame level selection of clips.
● Co-founded the company EchoStorm in 2003, which was acquired by ITT Exelis in 2010, then acquired by Harris
Corp in 2015.

Software Engineer | US Bankruptcy Court EDVA - 2000 to 2006

Full stack development of client-server windows applications supporting the daily work of the US Bankruptcy court staff.
Learned and developed OOP based applications for tracking employee’s PTO, cash register applications, district wide real
time chat and sharing apps and more.

● Created a leave management windows app that was deployed to over 70 districts across the country.
● Migrated a legacy cash register application to a modern Windows application with improved capabilities and
performance.
● Earned the Director’s Award for application development.

Independent Consulting / Personal Projects - 2015 to Current

Designed and developed a variety of apps for small businesses, fun or learning opportunities with my kids.

● Build a NextJS based service, admin and client Web Component for organizations to highlight common
information for customers in a single front-page icon / popup widget.
● Fully prototyped MusicMeister, an app to assist students to learn and instructors to teach an instrument, by
allowing the instructor to enter practice blocks with video, sheet music, instructions, play along tracks and more.
Practice is then self guided.
