What is the difference between the GOLD

1. Question:

The heat treatment of M-wire and the GOLD
wire are performed at different stages in the
production process. This translates into
different alloy properties.
What matters is not only the alloy but the combination
of the alloy together with the design of the file. This is

2. Question: Can I use WaveOne Gold Glider with Reciproc (or other files)?

WaveOne Gold Glider can be used as any other glide path, but it has been optimized to be used in

Answer: There is not one better than the other one, but one system more adapted to each dentist profile.

WaveOne Gold Glider can be used with VDW reciprocating motors, when selecting the WaveOne Gold
files settings.

8. Question: Why did you keep the anti-sterilization ring?

Answer: 
We believe that the single-use provide a better quality of endodontic treatment, and bring important
benefits such as:
• Simplicity, thanks to the ready-to-use sterile packaging

Conform Fit® gutta-percha points have been
redesigned to precisely match the corresponding
file system. Our new design produces a variable
taper shape and is more precise when compared to
the corresponding file system.

Why does the coronal end look smaller on

The new formulation has improved melt flow characteristics.
When utilizing warm obturation techniques, the
gutta-percha points can be used at lower heat temperatures
ranging from 105°C-180°C. Additionally, our new points
offer greater heat extension of 4.0mm which allows
gutta-percha to flow into difficult to reach canal anatomies.

4. Question: What temperature do you recommend for Conform Fit gutta-percha points?
Answer: 
We recommend not exceeding 180° C, which is the recommended medium temperature when using the
Calamus unit and the GuttaCore oven.

Why does the Conform Fit gutta-percha points have a tab?

5. Question: 
Answer: The innovative tab design was created to enrich the user experience for easy identification and improve
handling during obturation. The gutta-percha can be easily handled by cotton pliers by lifting the point by
the tab.

6. Question: Are Conform Fit gutta-percha points latex free?

Answer: 
Yes! Conform Fit gutta-percha points do not contain natural rubber latex and are classified as latex-free
by the European Commission.

7. Question: What happens if I over prepare the canal, will the gutta-percha point still fit?
Answer: 
Yes, the point will still fit in the canal. It is important to note that although the point is designed to match
the file system if the canal shape is too large, the gutta-percha point will lose some of the benefits of
precision fit and variable taper design.

8. Question: Is there a reason why my gutta-percha point won’t reach working length?
Answer: 
In challenging canal anatomies, there could be a number of potential reasons for why this occurs. One
reason could be due to the extreme curvature of the canal. Another potential reason could be caused by
remaining debris in the canal or under preparation or over preparation in the canal space. Another way to
check working length is to place the finishing file in the canal space and perform a radiograph.

9. Question: Why does Conform Fit gutta-percha fit differently from my previous gutta-percha?
Answer: 
Conform Fit gutta-percha is designed not to bind in the coronal region of the canal. Traditional gutta-
percha with greater tolerances of +/-.05mm or +/-.07mm can provide a false sense of apical tug back due
to binding in the coronal region. If you suspect coronal binding, it is best to reevaluate the canal.

What do I do if the coronal portion of the root canal is wider than the gutta-percha point?

After severing the cone at the orifice level, manual compaction and potential addition of small pieces of
gutta-percha could also be compacted in to the coronal space.

1. Question: What does “Crosslinked” mean?
Answer: 
GuttaCore® is the first obturator with a crosslinked
gutta-percha core. Crosslinking is a well-established
scientific process that connects the polymer chains
and transforms the gutta-percha to stabilize the
structure, while keeping its best features. The
crosslinked gutta-percha core retains its shape when
heated - and easily removes. Gray radio pacifiers are
added for improved radiographic appearance.

2. Question: What are the main advantages of crosslinked gutta-percha?

Answer: a. No plastic core
The only material remaining in the root canal after achieving 3D fill is gutta-percha.

 lacement, post space and retreatment – simplified
Provides an efficient technique that offers the ease of a single insertion, so patients spend less time
in the chair. Creating a post-space or removing the obturation material will be easier and faster.
The crosslinked core comes out efficiently, saving you time and convenience. Remove the handle by
bending to either side of the canal wall without affecting the seal.

Many obturation techniques use lateral or vertical compaction; however, the hydraulic force from
these techniques generally moves gutta-percha in one or two unequal directions (laterally or apically).

3. Question: Is GuttaCore® the only obturator in the market with a core made of gutta-percha?
Answer: 
Yes, all GuttaCore branded obturators are the only obturators with a crosslinked gutta-percha core that
you will find on the market. There are competitive brands of obturators on the market that claim to have
a gutta-percha core, however, internal chemical analysis reveals that these carriers are plastic with some
gutta-percha, NOT all gutta-percha.

4. Question: Why are we launching GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold?

Answer: 
WaveOne® and WaveOne® Gold instruments redefine the standard in mechanized root canal shaping.
GuttaCore provided an obturation solution that allows clinicians to fill canals three dimensionally with
the ease of a single insertion. However, market feedback from our customers suggested that some sizes
of GuttaCore were not consistent and they often had to “drop down” in GuttaCore size after using the
size verifier. Launching GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold allows us to simplify this transition to obturation
for WaveOne Gold customers and improve predictability. With GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold we offer a
complete solution approach from glide path to obturation.

What is the difference between

6. Question: What kind of packaging is available?

Answer: The packaging consists of:
• 1 blister pack contains 5 obturators + 1 size verifier
• 1 box contains of 5 blister packs (25 obturators + 5 size verifiers)
• 1 blister pack of size verifiers contains 6 size verifiers

7. Question: Is the GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold obturator delivered in a sterilized blister?
Answer:  No, it’s not a sterilized blister. GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold, as any other carrier-based obturator
(GuttaCore®, GuttaCore® for ProTaper Next®, Thermafil®, Thermafil for ProTaper® Gold, etc...),
has to follow the standard sterilization procedure:
• Disinfect the obturator in a 5.25 sodium hypochlorite solution (NaCIO) for one minute.
• Gently wipe the gutta-percha on the GuttaCore™ obturator with 70% alcohol.

8. Question: Are there any calibration rings on the GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold obturator?
Answer:  Calibration rings are set at the following working lengths (in millimeters):
18, 19, 20, 22, 24, plus 27 and 29 on the obturator handles.

9. Question: What are the main precautions we have to take?

Answer: • Select the GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold obturator according to the size verifier that fits the shaped
canal passively.
• GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold obturator cores should not be used as size verifier.
• Do not remove gutta-percha from the apical section of GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold obturator prior to
filling the root canal space. Removing the gutta-percha may damage the obturator.

GUTTACORE® FOR WAVEONE® GOLD

How can we remove any excess of gutta-percha that may block access to the chamber and other canals?
10. Question: 
Answer: 
Use a spoon excavator, explorer, etc. to remove this excess. To avoid any excess gutta-percha, protect
adjacent canals orifices with tiny cotton pellets or a paper point until time for obturation.

Will size verification still be necessary with GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold?
11. Question: 
Answer: 
Yes, size verification is a critical part of the GuttaCore technique that is often overlooked, especially for
new users. Size verification helps prevent clinicians from rushing the carrier into the canal which often
leads to breakage by providing another opportunity to visualize placing the obturator into the canal. For
more experienced users, it is important to use the size verifier in challenging and curved canals to insure
the obturator will go to length. The 5-pack of GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold contains one size verifier.
They are also sold separately in 6-packs.

12. Question: What about the size verifier?

Answer: 
The size verifiers included in the GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold blister packs are made of nickel titanium
and are fluted, making them excellent for minor apical shaping, if necessary. If the size verifier is slightly
short of your working length, you can use it to enlarge to your working length by rotating it in a clockwise
direction while exerting slight apical pressure.

Can we take out the gutta-percha from the obturator to use it as a size verifier like with the Thermafil®?
13. Question: 
Answer: 
No, because the core is not in plastic and is now made of gutta-percha. Using it as a size verifier is not
indicated (breakage of the core could happen).

Can customers use GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold in their existing ovens?
14. Question: 
Answer: 
Yes, customers can use their existing ThermaPrep® 2 or ThermaPrep® Plus ovens but you have to be very
careful about the heating time you will define. Always select the lowest setting when using GuttaCore for
WaveOne Gold. Take out the obturator as soon as you hear the first beep.

15. Question: What are the main advantages of GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold compared to warm vertical compaction?
Answer: a. Time saving
Obturating with GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold takes less time. With a traditional warm vertical
compaction you will need much more time and more instruments to achieve your obturation.
b. 3 D fill in the apical third
In a severely curved canal, it is difficult to get a heated plugger in the apical third to within 3-5mm of
the working length. As a result, warm gutta-percha is not able to flow at the apex creating essentially
a single cone fill. With GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold, the core of the obturator centrally condenses the
surrounding flowable gutta-percha 3-dimensionally in the coronal third as well as in the apical third.

16. Question: How can we proceed with a retreatment?

Answer: 
Select an appropriate sized Post Space Bur. Then remove the obturation material by using the same sized
rotary file used for shaping and engage the obturation material (A non-landed rotary file is preferable).

(Thermafil®, ProTaper® obturators…)?
Answer: 
To avoid over extension, don’t force the GuttaCore™ obturator beyond the working length. If the canal has
been properly shaped and the gutta-percha properly heated, the obturator should go to working length
without twisting or forcing.

19. Question: Do we have the possibility to use GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold with patients allergic to latex?
Answer: GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold obturators do not contain latex.

20. Question: Will GuttaCore® for WaveOne® Gold dissolve with solvent?
Answer: 
It is important to note that crosslinked gutta-percha is not sticky; therefore, it does not melt and will not
dissolve with solvents.
