USE and FORM

We use the SECOND CONDITIONAL to talk about an improbable/ impossible

or hypothetical future situation and its consequence.
Look at the example below:

If a bear attacked me , I would run away.

(improbable situation or condition) , (consequence or result)

IF + SUBJECT+ VERB (past simple) , SUBJECT + WOULD/WOULDN`T +

INFINITIVE

NOTE! The if- clause can come first or second.

I would run away if a bear attacked me.

Other examples:

If a bull started running towards me, I would throw something in

another direction

If you didn’t go to bed so late, you wouldn’t be so tired.

Would you take the job if he offered it to you?

NOTE! WOULD/ WOULDN`T is the same for all persons (I, you, he, she, it,
we, they).
REMEMBER short forms: would = ´d would not = wouldn’t
