As a high school student, creating a resume is an important task that requires careful
consideration and attention to detail. It is an essential document that showcases our skills,
experiences, and achievements, and helps prospective employers make informed decisions about
our candidacy. In this reflection paper, I will discuss my experience of creating a resume and
share my insights about the process.
At the outset, I found the task of creating a resume daunting. I had numerous academic and
extracurricular achievements, and I was unsure how to present them effectively. Additionally, I
had not yet gained real-world experience, which for me, was an added challenge. However, after
conducting extensive research online and consulting with classmates and professors, I found that
the key to a strong resume is to focus on the skills that are relevant to the job you are seeking.
Therefore, I carefully analyzed job postings and highlighted the skills and experiences that
matched their requirements. This exercise helped me to streamline my resume and focus on the
areas that would appeal most to prospective employers.
During the process of creating my resume, I identified my strengths and weaknesses. For
instance, I realized that I had excellent writing and communication skills, which I showcased in
my resume, but I also recognized my lack of technical skills. Therefore, I worked on developing
my technical skills by taking online courses and pursuing certifications. Through this exercise, I
learned that it is crucial to identify and address our weaknesses, and that doing so can
significantly enhance our candidacies.
After completing my resume, I sought feedback from my teacher and peers. The feedback I
received was invaluable, and it helped me to refine my resume and make it more effective. I
learned that a good resume must be easy to read, visually appealing, and error-free. I also learned
that incorporating industry-specific keywords and phrases can significantly increase the chances
of the resume making it past the applicant tracking systems used by companies today. These
insights were crucial in helping me to create a resume that stood out from the rest.
Overall, creating a resume was an enlightening experience that helped me to reflect on my skills,
achievements, and goals. It taught me the importance of presenting myself clearly and effectively
to prospective employers and helped me to become more aware of the areas in which I excel and
those that require improvement. Moreover, the feedback I received helped me to identify the
areas that needed attention and gave me the encouragement to continue pursuing my goals. I am
now more confident in my ability to create a strong resume and believe that it will be an essential
tool in my future job searches.
Job Application
Creating a job application can be a daunting task. It requires a lot of attention to detail
and a good understanding of the job requirements. While working on my job application, I
learned a lot about the process of applying for a job. In this reflection paper, I’ll discuss my
experience in creating a job application and what I learned from it.
The first step in creating a job application is to study the job post carefully. It’s essential to
understand the job requirements and responsibilities to ensure that you’re a good fit for the
position. Once I understood the job requirements, I began working on my resume. I made sure to
highlight my relevant skills and experience to make my application stand out.
The next step is writing the cover letter. This is your chance to express your interest in the job
and to persuade the employer that you’re the right candidate for the position. I spent a lot of time
working on my cover letter, ensuring that it was specific and tailored to the job requirements. I
also highlighted my achievements and experiences, making sure to present myself as the best
candidate for the job.
Another essential aspect of the job application process is networking. I reached out to people in
the industry to learn more about the job and to get some insights into what the employer might be
looking for in a candidate. Networking allowed me to gain the inside knowledge I needed to craft
a compelling job application.
Finally, after submitting my job application, I went through a lot of anxiety waiting for a
response from the employer. I realized that applying for a job can be a rollercoaster of emotions,
from excitement to anxiety. However, I also learned that it is crucial to remain patient and to
keep applying for other jobs if you receive a rejection.
In conclusion, creating a job application can be an intimidating process. However, with careful
planning, attention to detail, and networking, applicants can increase their chances of landing the
job. Applying for a job is an emotional journey, but remaining patient and persistent is key.
Through my experience in creating my job application, I have learned a lot about the process and
feel more confident in my ability to apply for future job opportunities.
Daily Time Record (DTR)
Creating a daily time record is a crucial task that every employee should take seriously. It
helps to monitor and evaluate the time spent working, which is significant to one’s productivity
and performance. Additionally, it can also indicate if projects are progressing according to
timeline and if deadlines are met. With that said, I am grateful for the opportunity to reflect on
my experience in creating my daily time record.
Initially, I found creating a time record to be overwhelming, as I had no idea where to begin.
However, my manager provided me with a template which proved to be helpful. The template
contained all the necessary details such as start and end time, what tasks were accomplished, and
time spent on each task. I also added notes to describe any anomalies or updates on the projects I
was working on.
As I progressed on the creation of my daily time record, I realized that it does not only serve as a
tool for my evaluation but also for my manager’s. It helps my manager to monitor my progress,
my work, and identify any issues that may arise. Moreover, a well-documented daily time record
may come in handy in re-evaluating my workload and make necessary adjustments.
To ensure that my daily time record is accurate and effective, I made sure to allocate ample time
at the end of each workday to document and update my time record. It may seem tedious, but it
only took me a few minutes to complete as I consistently tracked my time and tasks throughout
the day. Furthermore, it provided me with a comprehensive overview of my work, especially on
the days when multiple projects were assigned.
In conclusion, creating a daily time record is an essential task that every employee should give
importance to. Not only does it allow for individual evaluation, but it also helps in monitoring
work progress. From my experience, I learned that having a template and allocating time each
day proved to be helpful. It is also worth noting that a well-documented daily time record may be
beneficial in re-evaluating your workload and task management.
Hi, I am Catherine Iglesias, a grade 12 student at Sibalom National High
School taking the Humanities and Social Sciences strand. Although I’m not a
busy-minded person, I am a deep and critical thinker. I also make sure
everything I do is almost perfect, as I am a perfectionist. I learned to perform
solid academic research and activities that support my ideas to combine my
thoughts with the work and opinions of others, and to receive further
education on developing better performances. This is why I decided to create this portfolio to
showcase my best work during and from my previous experiences in activities held by the
school.
In selecting my artifacts I made sure to pick the achievements that have great value and
that represent my academic ability.
Through these activities, so as to show my strength in excellence in particular areas.
Through this portfolio, I was able to identify what kinds of activities are my strengths, and by
recognizing my shortcomings and constantly working hard to improve and enrich them. I believe
I will become stronger and know what I’m capable of, as I’ll overcome my weaknesses and
make them my advantage.
How did I managed to comply my Portfolio?
Managing a portfolio can be a challenging task, as it requires an individual to effectively
organize their work and showcase their abilities. In my experience, the most important step in
complying with my portfolio was setting clear goals and objectives for what I wanted to achieve.
This allowed me to stay focused, prioritize my work, and create a plan that would enable me to
complete the task at hand.
Another critical factor that helped me manage my portfolio was attention to detail. I ensured that
each aspect of my portfolio was well-crafted, and every piece of information was clearly
presented. I also sought feedback from peers and colleagues to help me identify areas that
required improvement. This allowed me to identify and rectify mistakes, refine my work, and
present myself in the best possible light.
In addition to this, I was highly organized in compiling my portfolio. I carefully selected pieces
that showcased my strengths and abilities and organized them in a logical and coherent manner.
Taking into account the assessment criteria, I also made sure that all necessary documents and
information were included in my portfolio. This comprehensive approach enabled me to present
a polished and professional portfolio that demonstrated my skills and capabilities.
Lastly, I strived to maintain a positive and proactive attitude throughout the process. I remained
motivated, optimistic, and determined even when faced with challenges. I acknowledged my
achievements and celebrated small victories that helped me stay on track. By adopting a growth-
mindset and learning from my experiences, I was able to manage my portfolio successfully and
achieve my goals.

Content: This portfolio contains a collection of my best works in every specialised subject taught
in the HUMSS strand.
Experiences: My experiences in creating this portfolio have been challenging and satisfying;
challenging because there are tasks that require focus and attention to detail, especially in editing
and coding my reflections. It is really testing my patience, but when the results come out, it feels
rewarding, and all that hard work is worth it, so creating this portfolio is fun and entertaining.
Reflection: Some learnings I gained in making this portfolio were being able to widen and
lengthen my patience in handling things that require detailed work and observation, as well as
realisations that dawned upon me while writing reflections for every subject. Plus, the nostalgic
feeling I felt after compiling and seeing the pictures for my senior high school journey collage
Surely, I will miss some of my classmates who brought new lessons, experiences, and
perspectives to my life and contributed to my growth. They made my monotonous life fun and
lively, and I’m grateful for that.
