All about
genders
Before we can discuss about
gender diversity, it is
important to understand the
concept of gender itself. So,
what are genders and how do
they affect people?

Gender is a social construct that is heavily influenced by society and

culture. By definition, gender is the set of characteristics that are
socially defined as masculine and feminine. This definition can be
further expanded to include gender roles, identity, and expression.
The gender identity of a person may be determined by many social
factors including but not limited to beliefs, traditions, living
environment, discrimination…

Each of these identities has an impact on the

way people are perceived, treated, and valued
in society, and the intersection of these
identities further shapes people’s experiences.
For example, a black, queer woman may face “It’s time we see
discrimination that is distinct from a white, gender as a
straight woman. Similarly, the prevalence of spectrum instead of
gender stereotyping in language reinforces two sets of opposing
traditional ideas of gender roles and identities ideals”
such as fireman, barmaid and mailman. But

7 Main
Gender
MALE
The gender identification "male" has historically
been connected to the male sex. It's possible
that a male identification was given to a baby at
birth, but it's not usually the case. Male is a
gender identity that is acknowledged and
accepted in society, yet many men still
experience discrimination and pressure to fit into
stereotypical gender norms.

FEMALE
Female is a traditionally associated gender
identity with femininity and the female sex. Female
identifiers are sometimes assigned at birth, but
this is not always the case. Although female is a
recognized and accepted gender identity in
society, many women face discrimination and
pressure to conform to traditional gender roles.

NON-BINARY/GENDERQUEER
Gender identities that do not neatly fit into the
male-female dichotomy are referred to as "non-
binary." Non-binary people may identify as a
gender hybrid, neither gender, or as something
entirely different. Non-binary people frequently
use they/them/their instead of he/him/his or
she/her/hers. Despite the fact that non-binary
identities are becoming more prevalent and well-
accepted in society, many non-binary people
continue to face prejudice and lack of
acceptance.
TRANSGENDER
People who identify as transgender are those
whose gender does not correspond to the sex they
were assigned at birth. Those who identify as
transgender can be male, female, non-binary, or
have any other gender identification. Transgender
people may undergo medical interventions such
as hormone therapy or surgery to align their
physical body with their gender identity.
Transgender people may face discrimination and
stigma, but the transgender rights movement has
made significant progress in recent years.

GENDERFLUID
Genderfluid individual does not see themself as
male or female. But may or may not indenify
themself as one depending on the day. This refer
to them being fluid with their gender expression.
Genderfluid individuals may express their gender
through their clothes or interest today and as
another the next day

AGENDER
A person that doesn't see themself as neither male
or female. Their biological sex does not necessarily
allign with their gender identity. They're often
descsribe as genderless or genderfree

INTERSEX
Those who are born with physical sex features that
do not correspond to traditional male or female
categories are said to be intersex. Variations in
chromosomes, hormones, or reproductive organs
may be present in intersex individuals. Male,
female, non-binary, or any other gender identity
are all acceptable for intersex people to claim.
