A DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN SCIENCE 5

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:
a. Identify the kinds of weather disturbances.
b. The student will develop an understanding of classification by sorting weather disturbances and their
effect picture cards.
c. The student will work cooperatively as part of a group.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Weather disturbances and its effect to environment
References: k-12 Techer’s Guide page 180-182 and Learner’s Material page 159-160

Materials: audio visual, bond paper, picture cards, marker, clip board.

III. PROCEDURE

A. PREPARATION

Before you take your seat, kindly pick up those
pieces of papers around you and see to it that your
chairs are properly aligned. Thank You Sir

2. Review
Can you recall what was our lesson yesterday? Yes Sir!

What was our lesson yesterday? We observe the weather changes of weather
before, during and after the typhoon

Very good Emi. Now lets have a game. I will show


you a picture and try to classify wether it
happened before, during or after the typhoon
Anyone who wants to try?

So how will you describe a weather before the Before the typhoon,
typhoon? >There are formation of dark clouds
> Air is colder and dry
> Reddish clouds at sunrise and sunset
> Humidity is high

What about the weather during the typhoon?


>Strong winds and heavy rains
> Sky is cloudy
> Big waves in the sea
>Surging of winds in counterclockwise direction
Last, the weather after the typhoon?
>Speed of wind decreases
> Sun is starting to shine
> Sky is clear
Little rain but not as much as during typhoon
> Environment are flooded

B. Motivation

Iwill group you in to two. Then i will give each


group a picture card. You try to observe whats in
the picture . Each group will share their findings
with the class.

Very good, that is the effect when there is a They were wearing raincoat and using umbrella
continuous rain. It can cause flood, heavy rains and
cold weather

Class, I have prepared a video. Do you want to

Today we are going to discuss the different types


of weather disturbances.

The first one is Thunder storm. It is also known as


electrical storm.
It produces gusty winds, heavy rains and
sometimes hail

Another is monsoon . it is a seasonal flows of


winds between the Northern and southern
Hemisphere.
2 types of Monsson
1) Habagat- Southwest monsoon
- felt during June-October
2) Amihan- Northeast Monsoon
- November- February

Next is Intertropical Convergence Zone or the


(ITCZ). The meeting Place of Hot and cold
tradewinds in the northern and southern
hemisphere.

Last is Tropical cyclone . It is a low pressure system


that generally over tropical ocean areas and brings
wind and thunderstorms. You can wear raincoat,
rain boots, and umbrella

And the last kind of weather disturbances , ITCZ

Can you tell me what happened during ITCZ? Meeting of hot and cold in the north and southern
hemisphere sir.

Thunderstorm, Monsson, Tropical Cyclone and
ITCZ maam

picture . Then try to classify the effect weather it’s

We will play the “Pinoy Henyo” game. Your
partner will guess the type of weather
disturbances while the other will act or sign the
effect of the said weather disturbances.
