SECTION B (PROJECT ANALYSIS)


Identify a community project that has been in existence for at least six months or longer and evaluate it using the
guideline provided below.

Discuss the roles of the worker/developer/facilitator or project initiator in the facilitation, development and
current state of the project.

10. Reflection on the completion of the Assignment

Reflect on your learning experience while doing this assignment and answering the following:
• In what way did this assignment assist you or not assist you in reaching the specific outcomes of this
module? (Refer to the outcomes listed in this tutorial in your answer.)
• What learning experience did you find the most beneficial or challenging when doing this assignment?
Motivate your answer.
• If you could compile this assignment again, what would you change or do differently to enhance
your learning experience? (Be creative in your answer and motivate your answer.)
SECTION C

THE COMPREHENSIVE REPORT (Please refer to Report 8 under Learning Unit 5 of the Study Guide)
NOTE: REMEMBER TO INTEGRATE THEORY THROUGHOUT.
The comprehensive report must include/contain the following information:
(1) Identifying particulars: Include your name, address, student number, module code, name and address
of organisation where the group meetings were held and the name of your supervisor.
(2) Selection/recruitment criteria: Clearly describe the steps you have taken in selecting the group members
for this particular group work process.
(3) An attendance register must form part of this report.
(4) Contracting: Give a clear description of how contracting took place for the purposes of this group.
(5) Objectives: Indicate the long-term goals/objectives, and whether/how they were reached.
(6) Programme activities: Indicate which parts were most successful and which contributed most towards
achieving your group’s (and perhaps your) objectives.
(7) Group work process: Discuss the various phases individually, namely the characteristics of the different
phases, cohesion, climate and atmosphere, responsibility, interaction and communication patterns,
individuals’ behaviour and group norms.
(8) Individual members: Briefly assess members according to the following criteria:

 nature and extent of participation


 skills and abilities
 ability to conform
 interaction and communication
 role performance, status and initiative
 feelings during termination
 changes that occurred during the process
 other important aspects

(9) Facilitation: Evaluate your role in terms of the following:

 preparation of group members for group involvement and participation in group meetings (this is
linked to your selection processes)
 your effectiveness – greater and lesser effectiveness – as a result of using your various skills
 the nature of your relationship with individual members and the group as a whole, the influence this
had on different members and the achievement of the group’s goal
 your role in the group process regarding motivating members, commitment, structuring, climate in
the group, planning, dealing with sub-groups or difficult members, and other interventions
 Your feelings about terminating the group: were you satisfied with the rate of progress; what would
you single out as the milestone of the group’s development and to what do you attribute it; how did
you experience the final meeting; and did your involvement in the group influence you as a person?
 how your professional personality developed and how you acquired self-awareness areas of further
personal development and growth (use of theoretical approaches must be highlighted in the report)
(10) Termination: Describe the termination process with your client/s and reflect on your professional role in
this process.
(11) Self-reflection: Clearly describe how you grew personally and professionally (a description of personal
self-reflection in context of theory).
(12) Recommendations: You can contribute to the development of the course by evaluating and making
recommendations regarding the following:

 supervision (content, quality, regularity, etc)


 structure of the practical work
 content of the practical work
