Project Title: Web based Students Information System for the Reserve
Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in Aurora State College of
Technology.

Proponents/Researchers: 1.Cyrene O. Nad

Introduction:
The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) is
tasked to train and develop college students in the
rudiments of Military Service in order to produce capable
Armed Forces of the Philippines reservists. In the past
years, Registration in the ROTC of ASCOT starts from
students filling up paper forms that will be given by ROTC
officers and Instructors and then The students/Cadet will
be assigned or grouped to form a platoon. Nowadays,
technology is everywhere and it takes lesser time to
process transactions because we use technology to make
all our works easier. (J. Turner,2022) Technology affects
almost every aspect of 21st century life, from transport
efficiency and safety, to access to food and healthcare,
socialization and productivity. The power of the internet
has enabled global communities to form and ideas and
resources to be shared more easily.

Web based system provides access to a software

system using a computer and internet connection. With
web-based technologies, data sharing and project
collaboration are simpler. Users can share data and
collaborate on projects since data is kept in a single,
central location. (Jerzy Stanik) Using Web technologies,
an organization can reach out to customers and provide
them with not only general information about its
products or services but also the opportunity of
performing interactive business transactions.

Web based system makes keeping information

easier. The project will speed up the access of
information in the ROTC of Aurora State College of
Technology. The process of finding an specific
information of a Cadet will be faster by just searching the
name of the Student/Cadet and as well as more
organized than the manually hand written records on
papers. It will also allow them to collect, store, and

distribute data in a more efficient way.

Background of the Study:

Trough ROTC the students in Aurora State college of

Technology are supported in the development of strong
personal traits such as self-discipline, confidence, and
leadership.

The process of registration of cadets is messy and

takes a lot of time because of too much papers that are
needed to fill up by students and sometimes, some of the
officers of ROTC of ASCOT gets confused and lost the
forms of students because they can’t handle all the
papers due to the large number of Cadets who are
simultaneously submitting their forms.

In result, when students ask for their assigned platoons

the officers will take a lot of time finding their names in a
large bulk of papers and sometimes they will found out
that the forms of a cadet is missing in which they will give
a new form again to be fill up by the cadet which makes
their work more tiring.

Statement of the The project aims to help the ROTC officers and
Problem: instructors in Aurora State College of Technology located at
Brgy. Zabali, Baler Aurora.

The method they use in storing files through papers

makes it hard for them to do more work because officers
consume too much time and efforts in finding information
needed at a certain time. This problem must be solved in
order for them to manage their files more efficiently.
Objectives of the Study:
General Objective:

The main objective of the study is to develop Web

based Information System for the Reserve Officer
Training Corps (ROTC) cadets in Aurora State College of
Technology for ROTC cadets.

The proposed system specifically aims to create a

user-friendly system for ROTC officers, provide faster
retrieval of records, provide an organized record keeping
system, provide a secured record keeping system, and
determine if the proposed system is technically, and

finding information so that they can avoid complains and give

them more time for other works.

Cadets/ Students – They will have lesser time in finding their

designated platoons and they can easily access and know their
needed information with the help of the system.

Researchers - The success of the project will contribute to their

knowledge and skills as program developers.

Scope and Limitations: The study focuses on the Student Information System for
the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and will be
implemented in The ROTC office of Aurora State College
of Technology. The system will be developed to manage
and provide a better result for accurate and efficient
student record.

This study will monitor the profile information, assigned

platoon and grades of students. The users will be the ROTC
Officers and they can only register a student and generate and
update record. While the admin or the assigned instructors has
the duty in encoding the grades of students.
