AWARDS DESCRIPTION, CRITERIA, STANDARDS & REQUIREMENTS
5th FILIPINO SOCIAL WORKERS DAY 2023

I. Rationale

Starting this year, the Local Chapter of PASWI in Batangas shall recognize during its
Annual Conference, citizens, colleagues, and professionals who have made significant
contributions to advance the social work profession. The Association shall render due honor
and acknowledgment for its members who are steadfast in their pursuit of professional
excellence and commitment to the philosophy, values, and principles of social work.

As resolved by the Board of Directors, the Committee shall begin accepting nominations
from the first week of February until the last week of April of each fiscal year, providing further
the following categories and criteria by which members can identify and measure the
accomplishments of fellow social workers and public servants in our communities. The
nomination and award are expressions and gestures of appreciation for exceptional
performance and commitment to the profession that endures year after year.

II. Standards and Procedure

A. Lifetime Achievement Award

Description The Lifetime Achievement Award honors a member of the local


chapter for his/her accomplishments over a lifetime of work in the
field of social work.

Criteria Candidates for this award have contributed to the field in three (3)
or more of the following ways:

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated new combinations of skills


that impart a positive impact on the profession, organization
and/or an agency;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated extraordinary personal and


professional integration of experience and education to help
people;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated creativity in the


transformation of programs and/or services;

▪ Enlists or has enlisted major public support for improved social


welfare and development services;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated superior contributions to


the public’s knowledge of Social Work and social programs;

Standards To be nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award, the prospect
awardee or nominee must:

▪ Be a social worker and current or past member of PASWI

▪ Have at least 25+ years of service rendered as social worker

▪ Demonstrate service beyond job requirements

▪ Demonstrate repeated outstanding achievements over an


entire career

▪ Have received recognition from organizations other than


professional social work organizations

▪ Have exemplified knowledge, skills, attitude, and habits that


are defined in the PASWI Code of Ethics

Requirements To submit a nomination, the nominator must:

▪ Complete the prescribed online form

▪ Upload a one-page minimum summary document which


describes…
o What the nominee has accomplished
o What was outstanding about the nominee’s action(s)
o What risks the social worker took to achieve results
o What particular sector or clientele was served
o What long-term effects were achieved

▪ Upload a copy of the nominee’s most recent resume or


Curriculum Vitae or Personal Data Sheet (for government
employees) and means of verification for years of service
rendered

▪ Upload a letter of endorsement or letter of support from the


nominee’s agency or immediate supervisor

▪ Upload at least three (3) high-resolution photos (JPEG or PNG


formats only)

B. Exemplary Social Worker of the Year Award

Description The Exemplary Social Worker of the Year Award honors a member
of the local chapter, each from the public and private sector, for
his/her outstanding commitment and dedication to those who are
marginalized and disadvantaged.

Criteria Candidates for this award have contributed to the field in three (3)
or more of the following ways:

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated new combinations of skills


that impart a positive impact on the profession and/or an
agency;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated extraordinary personal and


professional integration of experience and education to help
people;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated creativity in the


transformation of programs and/or services;

▪ Exceptional risk taker for better humanitarian initiatives and


social services;

▪ Enlists major public support for improved social welfare and


development services;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated superior contributions to


the public’s knowledge of Social Work and social programs;

Standards To be nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award, the prospect


awardee or nominee must:

▪ Be a registered social worker and member of PASWI

▪ Have at least 15+ years of service rendered as social worker

▪ Demonstrate service beyond job requirements

▪ Have made contributions to the public’s knowledge and positive


image of social work

▪ Demonstrate leadership qualities

▪ Have made volunteer contributions

▪ Have made a difference in any of the fields of social work:


o Advocacy, Education, and Publications
o Civil Society and Nonprofit Organization
o Government Service
o Public Administration and Public Policy
o Social Work Research

▪ Have exemplified and represented knowledge, skills, attitude,
and habits that are defined in the PASWI Code of Ethics

Requirements To submit a nomination, the nominator must:

C. Meritorious Service Award

Description The Meritorious Service Award honors a member of the local


chapter for his/her tenure in service, fulfilling extraordinary,
personal, and professional integration of experience and education
to become of real help to people.

Criteria Candidates for this award have contributed to the field in three (3)
or more of the following ways:

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated new combinations of skills


that impart a positive impact on the profession and/or an
agency;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated extraordinary personal and


professional integration of experience and education to help
people;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated creativity in the


transformation of programs and/or services;

▪ Exceptional risk taker for better humanitarian initiatives and


social services;

▪ Enlists major public support for improved social welfare and
development services;

▪ Demonstrates or has demonstrated superior contributions to


the public’s knowledge of Social Work and social programs;

Standards To be nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award, the prospect


awardee or nominee must:

▪ Have a minimum of five (5) years of service or practice


rendered as social worker

▪ Demonstrate service beyond job requirements

▪ Have made contributions to the public’s knowledge and positive


image of social work

▪ Demonstrate leadership qualities

▪ Have made volunteer contributions

▪ Have made a difference in any of the fields of social work:


o Advocacy, Education, and Publications
o Civil Society and Nonprofit Organization
o Government Service
o Public Administration and Public Policy
o Social Work Research

▪ Have exemplified and represented knowledge, skills, attitude,


and habits that are defined in the PASWI Code of Ethics
