Psalm Reading

Psalm 66
Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
2 sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!
3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come

cringing to you.
4 All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.”
5 Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
6 He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in

him,
7 who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations—let not the rebellious

exalt themselves.

Exhort:
The future
glory.

1st HYMN BY FAITH

GEN 15

God's Covenant with Abram

15 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I
am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” 2 But Abram said, “O Lord GOD, what will you
give me, for I continue[a] childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And
Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be
my heir.” 4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him: “This man shall not be your
heir; your very own son[b] shall be your heir.” 5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look
toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to

him, “So shall your offspring be.” 6 And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as
righteousness.

7 And he said to him, “I am the LORD who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you
this land to possess.” 8 But he said, “O Lord GOD, how am I to know that I shall possess it?” 9 He
said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years
old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10 And he brought him all these, cut them in half, and
laid each half over against the other. But he did not cut the birds in half. 11 And when birds of
prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.

12 As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great
darkness fell upon him. 13 Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring
will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted
for four hundred years. 14 But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and
afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 15 As for you, you shall go to your fathers
in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. 16 And they shall come back here in the fourth
generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

17 When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch
passed between these pieces. 18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To
your offspring I give[c] this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river
Euphrates, 19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the
Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”

To gives us the summary of this chapter,

At madalas
special mentioned dito yung part na kung saan, that God counted Abram righteous because he
believed that Lord.

And we know that is monergistic. Isa pa ay, Abram believed, his faith is growing. Progressive ang
paglapit nya sa Diyos. It is perfected because of God. Not because of Abram.
God counted him righteous, he is declared righteous by God.

Makikita natin na pinakuha si Abram ng mga hayop to split in half for the ceremonial.
covenant.

INTERNAL

Sa V12, when evening came, Abramham fell into a deep sleep, after noon God speak his
covenant, patungkol sa offring and promise ni God.

V17, When the evening came, God appeared in the form of a “smoking fire pot and flaming
torch [that] passed between the pieces.

May sinabi ba doon , God and Abraham passed the between the pieces? Wala!
Ano ibig sabihin noon, God appeared and sealed those promise ALONE, He alone burnt those
animal and blood alone. Nothing depended on Abraham! And Everything depended on God,
who promised to be faithful to His covenant.

At next is… v18

“18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram…”

Also, this chapter 15, mentioned sa book of Hebrews to support that “God has no one greater
by whom to swear, God swore by himself,” and that is from Hebrews chapter 6.

That happen so that Abraham and his descendants could trust, count on, and believe everything
God promised.

There will be no atonement and covenant without shedding of blood.

So anong implication nito sa atin, These are all copies and shadows of what Christ deed on the
cross! The ultimate blood covenant was already made by Jesus Christ by Himself–the God man.

Shadows became realities in Christ who fulfilled all of the Old testament blood covenants

So now, we as a Christians, can be confident that the gift of eternal life that God gives through
Christ is the true promise ng ating Faith.

common grace, o pagiging materialistic natin, pera trabaho, health.
