Some key takeaways are that believers have authority over the enemy through Jesus and we can exercise this authority through spiritual weapons like praise, worship, and prayer. We are also seated with Christ in heavenly places.

Spiritual weapons mentioned are praise, worship, the word of God, and prayer.

Believers are given authority to bind and loose spirits and have power and authority over all the powers of darkness according to Jesus' name.

BREAKTHROUGH PRAYER GUIDE

As you come to pray, lift up to God the areas in which you are crying out for answered
prayer and breakthrough and work through this prayer guide with those desires in mind.

OUR AUTHORITY IN JESUS

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the
power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
Our assignment is to administer the victory, demonstrate the triumph, and exercise the authority
that Jesus has won on our behalf. Authority is only effective when it is exercised. If we do not
exercise the authority he has given to us, it remains ineffective (Derek Prince, Spiritual Warfare).
Pray for understanding of your assignment in this particular battle for breakthrough.

We have been given kingdom power over all the power of the enemy AND he is not allowed to
retaliate against us! (Discernment, Jane Hamon). Praise God for his protection in the midst of
the battle or storm and ask Him to give you his courage and peace.

“And raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ
Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6).
Praise God that when he raised Jesus and seated him at his right hand in the heavens he
seated us IN him so we have all the authority Jesus has to reign over the powers of darkness.
Pray for wisdom and understanding to truly grasp the authority we have in Jesus.

“The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside of you” (Romans 8:11).
Worship God that he loves us enough to allow the same mighty power that raised Christ, to live
inside of us. Pray that God will give you wisdom, discernment and understanding to know how
to use this power to see breakthrough and to glorify Him.

BATTLING FOR BREAKTHROUGH

Christ has won the victory but our assignment is to demonstrate the victory over Satan
and his kingdom that Jesus has already won; this we can only do when we move from
the defensive to the offensive. The war is spiritual and in a spiritual realm, therefore, the
weapons also must be spiritual.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have
divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Satan deliberately and systematically builds strongholds in people’s minds which resist the truth
of the Gospel and the Word of God and prevent people from being able to receive the message
of the Gospel (Derek Prince). Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any specific areas of warfare
you need to be praying about and the best way to come against this in prayer.

“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid (bind) on earth will be forbidden in heaven and
whatever you permit (loose) on earth will be permitted in heaven” (Matthew 18:18). Jesus
gave us the power and authority to forbid and permit things. When praying for breakthrough we
can bind spirits of fear or deception or unbelief and so on from influencing someone and we can
loose (permit) spirits of revelation, wisdom or love in the name of Jesus. Using your authority,
pray for binding or loosing of anything the Holy Spirit leads you to pray over yourself or anyone
else relating to the breakthrough you are praying for.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil
in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12).
This is a great truth to remember if you are struggling with a relationship with anyone in your life.
Ask God to help you look beyond the person and focus your battle on the spiritual attack behind
them.

“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful
arm. Nothing is too hard for you!...You are the great and powerful God, the Lord of
Heaven’s Armies. You have all wisdom and do great and mighty miracles” (Jeremiah
32:17-19). God is powerful enough to do anything you may ask of Him. If you need a miracle
ask for one in faith knowing that nothing is too hard for him and he loves when we pray big
prayers expectantly for things that only he can do. “Nothing is impossible for God” (Luke 1:37).

OUR SPIRITUAL WEAPONS

THE WEAPON OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP

When we worship we focus on who God is and what he has accomplished through Jesus
and we are comforted. Worship is a great weapon that quells the enemy’s attempts to
infiltrate our minds and hearts and brings our focus back onto our assignment and our
relationship with God. Worship can prepare our hearts for prayer.

“After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to
praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out ahead of the army…..As they
began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab
and Mount Seir...and they were defeated” (2 Chronicles 20:21-22).
Pick a couple of worship songs and praise God as you begin to pray and battle for
breakthrough.
“Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against
your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger” (Psalm 8:2).
Think of the many names and attributes of God that may relate to your situation and praise Him
for who he is, what he has already done and what he WILL do. (Jehovah Rapha - the Lord who
heals, the commander of Heaven’s armies, Jehovah Jireh - the Lord provides, Jehovah Sabaoth
- the Lord who fights my battles, The Rock and so many more.

“Praise the Lord, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my tower of safety, my deliverer. He is my shield
and I take refuge in Him who subdues peoples under me” (Psalm 144:1-2).
In God we find everything we need to battle from a place of power and safety. Prayerfully claim
the biblical truth that he is your deliverer, your shield and refuge and he will prepare you for any
battle when you cry out to him in faith. We do not fight alone!

THE WEAPON OF PRAYER

God has designed it that we must consistently come to Him in a relationship, seek him
personally and ask him to be at work in us and in our circumstances. He wants us to
continually invite him into our lives, surrender to him and seek his power and we do this
through prayer. God invites us to partner with him to bring about the victory we desire.
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).

“If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God
did listen! He paid attention to my prayer” (Psalm 66:18-19).
Confess your sins and receive the gift of forgiveness that sin will not hinder your prayers.

“My heart has heard you say, come and talk with me. And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am
coming’ (Psalm 27:8). Our Heavenly Father longs for us to spend time with him in prayer
talking with him. Share your deepest longings and desires with him. He knows you and He
loves you, there is nothing we cannot cry out to him for.

“You do not have because you do not ask God” (James 4:2). Whatever you need
breakthrough for or desire to see in your life or the life of another, ask God directly and
persistently in faith.

THE WORD OF THE LORD

When we speak God’s word with boldness it becomes a spiritual force, a weapon that
withstands darkness. Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1) so when we speak the Word,
we have all the power of the risen Christ backing us. (“Discernment” by Jane Hamon).
“Does not my word burn like fire?” says the LORD. “Is it not like a mighty hammer that
smashes a rock to pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29).
If the word of the LORD is like fire or a mighty hammer it is surely strong enough to come
against your troubles and afflictions. Pick some relevant verses and declare God’s promises
over your situation believing for breakthrough.

“Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17b).
Put the armor of God on daily as your defense but the sword of the spirit is your weapon of
offense. Jesus used the word of God to defeat Satan in the desert. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring
to your mind scripture you can declare over your situation, write down or memorize scripture
and use it in prayer every day until you see the breakthrough you are praying for.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it
penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and
attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
Praying God’s word back to Him is a powerful weapon against evil. It is truth spoken out and
focuses our minds back on Him.

THE WEAPON OF PEACE

If the devil gets us out of peace into fear, doubt and unbelief then our faith and
discernment cannot operate effectively. We must be vigilant to discern how the enemy is
stealing our peace and get our minds and thoughts focused once again on the beauty,
majesty and power of the Lord (Discernment, Jane Hamon).

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge
of God and we take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians
10:5).
We have the ability to take our troubled thoughts back under our own control and pray the truths
of God over the devil’s lies. Pray for yourself or anyone else you desire breakthrough for to be
able to put this into practice and make our thoughts obedient to God.

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” (Romans 16:20). Declare this
promise over your circumstances and thank God for your expected victory.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in
you” (Isaiah 26:3).
Pray for help to keep your heart and mind focused on Him so that you will be in perfect peace
ready to defend against the blows of the enemy.
This prayer is based completely on Ephesians 1 and 2 and is a powerful way to declare
your God given authority in prayer and come against any area of warfare in your life.

THE AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER PRAYER by Billye Brim

(based on Ephesians 1:17-2:10)

God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, Please give unto me the spirit of
wisdom and revelation, in the knowledge of Him: Let the eyes of my understanding be
enlightened that I may know the hope of His calling, the riches of the Glory of Your
inheritance in the saints and the exceeding greatness of your dunamis (power) to us who
believe according to your mighty power which you wrought in the Messiah, the Anointed
One, when you raised Him from the dead and set Him at your own right hand in the
heavenlies. F-a-a-r A-b-o-v-e ALL principality and power and might and dominion and
every name that is named not only in this age and world but also in that which is to
come. And you have put all under His feet and gave Him to be head over all the Eklesia,
the Church, which is His Body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. And me, have you
quickened, when I was dead, slain by my trespasses and sins….But God, who is rich in
mercy, for his great love wherewith He loved me, even when we were dead in sins has
quickened us together with Christ, (by grace we are saved) and hath raised us up
together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus. When He quickened
Him, He quickened me. When He raised Him; He raised me. When He seated Him, He
seated me in Him. Therefore in Him, I am seated far above all principality, power, might
and dominion and every name that is named. And in the name of Jesus I will now rule
and reign over the powers of darkness, because the Lord told me to, in Romans 5:17.
For I have received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, therefore I now
reign as a king in my life by One, Jesus Christ. Kingdom of darkness, listen to me. I hold
the blood of Jesus over all things pertaining to me and I forbid you having anything to do
with………..(here you may list your family, business, ministry or anything else you feel
led to add).
