COVID 19: The Concealed Enemy of

Mankind

The coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is a

highly transmittable and pathogenic viral
infection caused by severe acute respiratory
syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Bats
could be the possible primary reservoir as it has
close genetic similarity to bat coronaviruses. It
was first identified in December 2019
in Wuhan, Hubei, China, but it was not to other
countries, just to protect its nation from the
nasty comments, and resulted in an ongoing
pandemic. Some consider this as biological
weapon that it was designed to harm America
specially.

 The virus is primarily spread among

people due to close contact, most often
via small droplets produced by
coughing, sneezing, and talking.
Sputum and saliva carry large amounts of
virus.
 When the contaminated droplets fall to
floors or surfaces they can, though less
commonly, remain infectious if people
touch contaminated surfaces and then
their eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed
hands. On surfaces they no longer cause
infection, if left for 72 hours untouched.
COVID-19 can affect the upper
respiratory tract (sinuses, nose, and
throat) and the lower respiratory tract
(windpipe and lungs). The lungs are the
organs most affected by COVID-19.
It mostly infects children and old people
and anyone who have less immunity.

So, let’s talk about its symptoms:

 Fever is the most common symptom of
COVID-19.
 Dry Cough
 Tiredness
 Difficulty in breathing or shortness of
breath
 chest pain or pressure
 loss of speech or movement

The vaccines have been now confidently

approved by WHO for the ages above 18
years, which is having a course of two
doses involving either ‘Covishield’ or
‘Covaxin’. If the two doses are competed
in due time (within 84 daysof the first
vaccine) then there is 80% chance for the
survival of the vaccinated patient or the
vaccinated healthy person while being
infected by the Corona virus.
Now, a Second wave is ongoing which
has a distinct characteristic of variable
symptoms for different persons due to
change in the genetic sequence of Corona
Virus called mutated Corona viruses. This
is a very fatal wave due to the crisis of O 2
cylinders and sufficient beds in the
hospitals in our country.
The infection as well as death rate is
higher as compared to the First wave as
the older people having any kind of
severe disease such as ‘Diabetes’, ‘High
BP’, heart disease, lungs or kidney
infection are unable to cope up with this
deadly virus.
The saddest point is to note that one of
our most dedicated civil warriors of the
country, i.e. many doctors and the
healthcare faculty are losing lives at the
drop of a hat to give us a new life. Thus,
we should always respect sthem.

Now, let’s talk about the preventions:

 The most effective measure is Home
Quarantine which reduces the chances of
dispersion of the disease to the
maximum.
 Social distancing strategies aim to reduce
contact of infected persons with large
groups by closing schools and
workplaces, restricting travel, and
cancelling large public gathering. These
guidelines also include that people stay at
least 6 feet (1.8 m) apart.
 WHO recommend individuals wear non-
medical face coverings in public settings.
 Individuals wash hands often with soap
and water for at least 20 seconds,
especially after blowing one's nose,
coughing or sneezing.
 The CDC further recommends using an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least
60% alcohol, but only when soap and
water are not readily available.

 We should also sanitize the frequently

touched places or buildings.

 We should drink glasses of hot water

frequently and do gurgle with hot water.
We should do yoga and eat healthy food
to
Get rid of this life-checking disease.
 There is also a lockdown going on to
ensure our better safety.

Scientists, virologists and their

researches have envisaged that there will
be an upcoming Third wave which will
mainly pose a threat towards the younger
generations (under 18 years).

This is our national fight against the

hidden foe which is just giving us an
opportunity to prove “Unity in Diversity”.
