    Possessive Adjectives

    One way to indicate possession is to use a noun followed by de and the owner’s name.
    Use the masculine form (du) or the feminine form (de la) with nouns.
    (There are no apostrophes in French.)

    le crayon de Zaynab = Zaynab’s pencil C'est le livre du


    professeur !
    le livre de Ali = Ali’s book

    Note: de + le = du
    le stylo du professeur = the teacher’s pen

    Like other adjectives, a possessive adjective exemples: mon livre = my book


    must agree in gender and number with the mes livres = my books
    noun it modifies. notre soeur = our sister
    notre frère = our brother
    Note: the adjective agrees with the noun it
    modifies, not with the owner.) nos soeurs = our sisters
