WORK EXPERIENCE
City of Victoria Public Library- Youth Programs Supervisor
November 2022- Present
As the Youth Programs Supervisor I oversaw a team of three library assistants in the development of programming for
children between the ages of newborn to 17. Together we provided services to a community of patrons both rural and urban that
ranged from early literacy initiatives like the 1000 books before kindergarten program and our Summer Reading Program to
family friendly traditions like our annual gingerbread house workshop holiday event that services over 1,000 families each year.
As the supervisor I was responsible for keeping track of the juvenile collections, making sure they were well maintained and up
to date. Weeding items as necessary to keep the collection relevant to the community. Supervised the creation of our own
marketing material for any event related to the children's programs as well as the various social media platforms and calendars we
utilized to promote our programs. Over the course of my time at the Victoria Public Library I have presented at a number of local
outreach events, local news, library advisory board meetings, and conferences to promote early literacy, inclusivity, and our many
programs we offer. As a member of the management team I have assisted in the creation of a strategic plan, reference desk lead,
and the onboarding of new employees.

As part of my Masters of Library and Information Sciences degree program I participated in the Graduate Certificate
program for Archives Management. For this program I was required to do an archival internship which I was able to accomplish
through the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. While working at the memorial I created the finding aid and
organized the papers for W.Kirk MacNulty a well known and respected Masonic Author. I spent a month compiling, organizing,
and handling documents that were well over a hundred years old and creating the digital finding aid for use by the archive. I was
lucky enough to also be paid for my time and efforts

EPIK (English Program In Korea) Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea — Middle School English Teacher
February 2019- March 2020
Spent a year living and working outside the city of Seoul, South Korea. Supervising local Korean students at Daegot
and Bunjin Middle Schools. Provided access to a native English speaker in order for the students to improve their vocal and
written production of the English language. In hopes that they will have native like fluency, should they choose to pursue higher
education outside of the Republic of Korea. While in the EPIK program I was required to formulate my own lesson plans for
three different grades across the two schools. In the summer and winter, schools hosted two weeks worth of English camp, one for
each school. Were I provided an original hands-on English curriculum that engaged them not only in educational English but in
cultural English. While in Korea I immersed myself in multicultural engagements participating in cultural activities including
calligraphy, learning Hangul (Korean written language), helping in school festivals, and enjoying local foods. Compounding my
interactions with my students on a day to day basis as well as a desire to immerse myself in my community I learned how to step
out of my comfort zone and engage locals to better my use of the Korean language and truly become a part of the local
environment.

CIEE (The Council on International Educational Exchange) Website Portland, Maine ― Blog Post Writer
February 2019- February 2020
While living abroad I was invited to write guest posts for the Non-Profit organization’s website and blog. I was asked to
share advice for potential English teachers who were looking into jumping into living and teaching abroad. They wanted me to
share insights into my experience during the application process, how I was coping once I got in country, and what life was like
at my school. While I received no actual salary for my posts I was awarded $25 Amazon gift cards everytime I wrote a post
specifically for them. ( samples available upon request) It was a great way to hone my skills as a writer and gave me valuable
insight into my own experience by allowing me the opportunity to periodically reflect on what I had already done and could
potentially improve upon.
