Information Systems
This document describes the FlySmart with Airbus (FSA) system that can be found in the ATA 46 Information Systems chapter.
FSA is an Ethernet based information system which provides electronic information for two user groups in the cockpit of the Airbus A330
aircraft. These three groups are:
- Flight Ops
- Maintenance
- Administrator
FSA will be available on three A330-300 aircraft from their entry into service at KLM in March, 2012.
Information Systems
Aircraft Maintenance Manual chapter 46 provides information about the Information System that can be installed on the A330.
These systems are the:
- Aircraft Information Network System (AINS)
- Cockpit Information System (ATIMS)
- Maintenance Information System
- Cabins Information Network System (CINS)
- Internal Wireless Datalink
- Passenger Information Network
At KLM entry into service of FlySmart the Information System will be limited to the use of the Aircraft Information Network System. As a
consequence of this AINS is also referred to as the FlySmart (FSA) system.
Note:
The AMM contains CINS and Cabin System references that are not applicable to KLM aircraft.
The FSA system allows airlines to host applications which support operations in the cockpit and maintenance domains. The AINS is composed
of two sub-systems:
- the AINS Open World part
- the AINS Avionics World part
The Open World part consists of an integrated avionics file server which provides a host-platform for maintenance and operations applications,
and a link between the aircraft Ethernet Local Area Network (ELAN) and the airline ground-based information system.
The Avionics part, which contains the Server Interface Unit (SIU), is a secured interface to the existing aircraft avionics systems.
Note:
The Air Traffic Information Management System (ATIMS) is operative on the A330-200 and -300 fleet and has no connection with AINS nor do
these two systems share information. ATIMS will not be discussed in this document.
