VISA Cover Letter for Guidelines and Format

FRANCE and GERMANY

NOTE: The Immigration Office in your university town in Germany assesses your cover letter or France, where they
decide based on the information you have provided whether studying abroad will help you be of benefit both to Germany
and your home country. If they feel your long-term goals will not provide any substantial benefit to your home country
and more importantly to Germany, it can easily lead to the refusal of your visa.
Document Required: Cover Letter
Word Limit: Should be ideally of 1.5 to 2 page long (Times New Roman 11 or 12)

<MUST IN GERMANY: Blocked Account for Living Expenses (NOT IN FRANCE)>


NOTE: This heading would be used only in Germany Student Visa, not France or any other country.
WHY: In order to study in Germany, students need to open a blocked account as soon as they get admission letter from
any German University. It is needed to be able to prove that they are capable of supporting themselves financially, at least
during the first year of their studies in Germany.
You need to ask details about this account from the student.
 Name of the Bank with which the student has opened the blocked account
 Amount of funds that the student has in that bank
 Assurance that the student has enclosed the Sanctioned Letter from that Bank with its details

<MUST IN FRANCE: Accommodation, Travel Ticket, & Insurance (OPTIONAL FOR GERMANY)>
 Add the details on all the expected charges and your plans of bearing them
 How much these will cost and how much you have saved or arranged for them: Accommodation, Travel Tickets, and
Insurance.
