5.1) Loads
Density of concrete = 2500 kg/m³
Density of water = 980 kg/m³
Density of Soil = 1800 kg/m³
Ductile Detailing :
As per IS 13920 : 1993
The spacing of hoops over a length of 2d at either end of a beam shall not exceed
(a) d/4 and
(b) 8 times the diameter of the smallest longitudinal bar;
however, it need not be less than 100 mm
The first hoop shall be at a distance not exceeding’ 50 mm from the joint face. Vertical hoops at the same
spacing as above, shall also be provided over a length equal to 2d on either side of a section where
flexural yielding may occur under the effect of earthquake forces. Elsewhere, the beam shall have vertical
hoops at a spacing not exceeding d/2.
Width of Beam = 23 cm
Depth of beam = 47.5 cm
Clear cover = 2.5 cm
Dia of Main bar provided = 12 mm
Effective depth = 44.4 cm
The spacing of hoops over a length of 2d at either end of a beam shall not exceed
d/4 = 11.1 cm
8 times the diameter of the smallest longitudinal bar = 9.6 cm
Elsewhere, the beam shall have vertical hoops at a spacing not exceeding d/2.

The spacing of hoops over a length of 2d at either end of a beam shall be provided is

Provide 12-tor@ 10cm c/c from Base to 1.5mt & extend alternate bars up to top
Horizontal steel :
Direct compression in long walls=Pa=KaY'(H-h)+Yw(H-h) = 945 kg/m2
W= Load on long wall Pa xB/2 = 1701 kg
Area of steel required Ast = 1.22 cm2
From Base to 1 mt :
Thickness of wall at base = 30 cm
Min - Steel as per IS 3370 = 0.35 % of cross section = 10.5 cm2
Min - Steel as per IS 3370 on each face = 5.25 cm2
Dia of Bar = 10 mm
Area of Bar = 78.54 mm2
Required Spacing = 14.96 cm
