Performance Task #4
Travelogue
Day One
Our family decided to go to church first to thank God for our safe arrival and pray. We went to
the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help or better known Baclaran Church located
in Baclaran, Paranaque City, Metro Manila. The cathedral is named after the statue honored
above the church's altar, a relatively small image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The statue
came from Germany, passed through Ireland before landing in the Philippines in 1906. From the
outside you can immediately see how big and grand it is. Before we entered, I noticed the
outside of the church that caught my attention. It's a lot of padlocks hanging from very long
metal gates. Locals call it love locks, according to them, padlocks symbolize the love of lovers
and families. After the mass, we lit a candle and for the first time I tasted puto bumbong and I
didn't think it was so good so I ate more.
We left the church and went to Baclaran Market. The crowd and the hustle and bustle
reminded me of the Colon Night Market here in Cebu. We shopped at a few stalls and I
noticed that almost all the vendors were Visayas. I can hear them talking in Bisaya or maybe
they heard us that's why this memory is full of happiness. After we went for a walk and bought
souvenirs, we immediately went home and rested because we had to go somewhere the next
day.
Day Two
As we were getting closer to our destination, I gradually saw the huge letters on top of the mall
that said "Mall Of Asia". I was filled with excitement because I had dreamed of going to this mall
for a long time. We got out of the car and I was amazed at the size and breadth of the MOA. SM
Mall of Asia is the largest shopping mall in the country and the third largest shopping mall in
Asia. This mall is a must-visit for anyone visiting Manila because it is one of the most famous and
popular destinations in the city. We walked and walked and we didn't seem to know where the
entrance was and where the end of the mall was. My mouth just opened when I saw that there
was a mini theme park in the outdoor part of the mall and it even had an escalator outside. I had
never seen anything like that before so I was fascinated by that. It's crowded but I'm still happy
because I'm with my family. We ate fast food and went back to the hotel room to sleep and
prepare for the last day of our vacation.
Day Three
Snow Land, Lazer Blaster at Walk on Water atbp. Ang parke ay
isang magandang takas mula sa kinagisnan nating buhay at ito
ay binibisita ng mga turista at lokal. Sumakay kami ng
rollercoaters, ferris wheel, at iba pa.
My overall impression of Manila is that it is very busy but there are so many
things available to do and you will never run out fun activities. It is a great place
filled with authentic Filipino culture and delicious food. As long as you can
tolerate a very busy and fast-paced city with so many people, Baclaran Church,
Mall of Asia Arena, and Star City are places that I would recommend the most
when visiting Manila.
