TITLE : JUNK FOOD (NABATI)

1.0 OBJECTIVE

1.1 The packaging and labels can be used by marketers to encourage potential
buyers to purchase the product.
1.2 Package graphic design and physical design have been a important
phenomenon.

2.0 INTRODUCTION
- Food packaging lies at the very heart of the modern food industry and very few
foods are sold unpackaged. Good packaging prevents waste and ensures that the
food retains its desired quality throughout its shelf life. Despite its importance and
the key role that packaging plays, it is often regarded as, at the best, somewhat
superfluous and at worst a serious waste of resources and an environmental
menace. Such views arise because by the time most consumers come into contact
with a package, its job in many cases is almost over. However, if the world is ever
going to be able to feed 9 billion people then the quality and quantity of food
packaging is going to have to increase considerably. While food packaging is an
integral component of food industry and helps to store food and beverages in
hygienic manner, it can at times because of concern for food safety. Some packaging
materials such as certain types of plastic, polystyrene and styrofoam can release
toxins when they are heated and can be dangerous to consumers. Packaging
material which are irradiated (along with food) can transfer unsafe non food
substances into the food. Food packaging makes use of a variety of substances,
including dyes for printing colourful labels and glues and adhesives for keeping
packaging closed. In order to protect consumers effectively, the relevant authority
individually certifies each of these food packaging materials subjecting them to
rigorous testing protocols.

Flexography Printing
- Flexography (often abbreviated to flexo) is a form of printing process which utilizes
a flexible relief plate. It is essentially a modern version of letterpress which can be
used for printing on almost any type of substrate, including plastic, metallic films,
cellophane and paper. It is widely used for printing on the non-porous substrates
required for various types of food packaging ( it is also well suited for printing large
areas of solid color.
TYPES OF INK
CYMK is known as the color printing. Color printing makes use of this method by
printing one or more of four specific inks each designed to removed specific
wavelengths from white light. The color in CYMK is cyan, yellow, magenta and black.
This four color will combined and create a new color that the printing need to do.
3.0 THE PRODUCT OF JUNK FOOD

4.0 TEMPLATE OF THE PRODUCT

MATERIAL PACKAGING :
This packaging have two different layer of material to protect the quality of the product and
for the packaging appearance. The two material that use to make this junk food packaging.
i) Polyethylene
- Polyethylene is the main material on this packaging because its provides
stability, strength and smoothness to the printing surface.

ii) Aluminium foil

- Aluminium foil protects against oxygen and light to maintain the nutritional
value and the flavors of the food in the package in ambient temperatures.

5.0 DESIGN PRODUCT

Product design describes the process of imagining, creating and iterating products that solve
us problems or address specific needs in a given market. These products are the
combination of selected raw materials with modern production processes resulting in a high
quality and nutritious products. The production process also has ISO and GMP standards.
The numerous advantages are making KSNI products became the consumer sprimary choice.
This is proven by the numerous awards which have been acquired such as Best Brand
Award, MURI and Top Brand Award. Nabati production processes use a modern automatic
system which is operated by the machines and the best technology, therefore it is capable
of creating a best quality product while staying committed to being an environmental
friendly company. Serving the highest quality products is part of our commitment to fulfil
the needs of consumers. Therefore, we control every step of production by applying strict
quality control. Starting from the selection of the best raw materials, production process
with modern systems and packaging until to the product delivers to consumers hands.
6.0 PROCESS MAKING THE PACKAGING
Process making packaging :

i) First method The photomechanical plate making method begins with making an
engraving. This is accomplished by exposing a metal plate through a negative
and processing the exposed plate in an acid bath. The metal engraved plate is
used to make a master which is molded out of bakelite board. The engraving is
placed in a mold press. The mold is produced by applying heat & pressure to the
mold material (bakelite board), which can be either plastic or glass, against the
engraving under controlled temperature and pressure. The bakelite board fills
the engraving on the metal plate. When its cooled you end up with a master
mold for the plastic or rubber compound that will be pressed into the mold
under pressure and elevated temperature to produce the flexible printing plate
with raised areas that will transfer the ink.

ii) The second method of flexo plate making is relief plates. This utilizes a solid or
liquid photopolymer. The sheet of photopolymer is exposed to light through a
negative. The unexposed areas are then washed away with solvent or water
wash. This is fast becoming the most common method of making plates.
iii) After that ,The process differs depending on whether solid sheets of
photopolymer or liquid photopolymer are used, though the two processes are
similar in general outline. In both processes the plates are made in ultraviolet
exposure units. A negative of the job is placed between the photopolymer and
the ultraviolet light source. The photopolymer sheet or liquid is then exposed to
ultraviolet light, hardening the image area. Lastly, the plate is processed to
remove the unhardened non-image area. Photopolymer plates are replacing
rubber plates because they offer superior quality and performance at a lower
cost.

iv) Flexographic printing plates may be made by laser engraving, which is called
direct digital platemaking. In this process an image is scanned or computer
generated. Then a computer-guided laser etches the image onto the printing
plate.
v) Roller transfer the ink from ink pan to the meter roller or Anilox Roll, which is
the second roller. The Anilox roller meters ink to a uniform thickness onto the
plate cylinder. The substrate then moves between the plate cylinder and the
impression cylinder, which is the fourth roller.

vi) The impression cylinder applies pressure to the plate cylinder, there by
transferring the image onto the substrate. The web, which by now has been
printed, is fed into the overhead dryer so the ink is dry before it goes to the next
print unit.
vii) After the substrate has been printed with all col the web may be fed through an
additional overhead tunnel dryer to remove most of the residual solvents or
water. The finished product is then rewound onto a roll or is fed through the
cutter.

7.0 FINISHING

After the printing process, substrate must been through another operation before it settle
and ready to send to the customer. The operation the finishing are coating, cutting, binding
and folding.

8.0 CONCLUSION
