    EXPLORING THE PHENOMENON OF KOREAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

    Why do you think Korean entertainment industry is so infectious and addictive,


    leaving fans screaming for more?

    A pleasant day to everyone. I am K.C. Villanueva of BSIT IF1 and today, I would
    like to talk about the state of K-Pop entertainment industry and why people around the
    world is obsessed in this kind of hype. Through this speech I hope to educate and make
    everyone thoroughly understand how Koreans maintain the spotlight on their stage.

    I have divided my speech into five parts mainly. In the first part, I give an
    introduction about K-Pop or Korean Pop and its characteristics. In next section, I will
    explain the way on how the industry finds its success and the criticisms it receive
    because of it. In the part three, I am going to give short elaboration about the relevance
    of Korean drama in the Korean entertainment industry. In the fourth part, I enumerate
    the economical and global advantages that K-Pop industry gives. The last part is where
    I would like to emphasize the impact of Korean entertainment industry in everyone’s
    lives and how it will continuously thrive and succeed.

    Firstly, It is important for us to understand what is K-Pop, or Korean pop. KPOP


    is a korean-based entertainment which has become a global sensation in recent years,
    and with that has come an of invasion of young people wanting to become idols.
    According to a well-known music executive and creator of shows like American Idol and
    The X Factor Simon Cowell, K-Pop is a true global sensation that has taken the world
    by storm. Its high-energy performances, catchy music, and stunning visuals have
    captivated audiences everywhere. But it is not just the music that makes K-Pop so
    popular. It is the entire package – the fashion, the beauty, the choreography, the
    storytelling, and the fandom culture of a KPOP group like BTS, Blackpink, Twice,
    Aespa, Exo and many more. According to a singer, actress, and beauty entrepreneur,
    Rihanna, korean idols are the epitome of beauty and style. Their flawless looks and
    impeccable fashion sense have captivated the world and set the standard for modern
    beauty. Even big names from international screen recognized how K-pop stars have
    become trendsetters and influencers, and their fans look up to them for inspiration.

    Secondly, K-Pop industry find its success through intense training and rigorous
    selection process that trainees go through to become idols. K-Pop agencies invest a lot
    of time and money in grooming their artists, and they have a very specific image that
    they want to project to the world. As a result, K-Pop idols are known for their flawless
    looks, impressive dance skills, and stage presence. The level of training can also be a
    double-edged sword and the allure of fame and fortune cannot be ignored. K-Pop idols
    are known for their lavish lifestyles, with some of the top idols earning millions of dollars
    a year. For young people who dream of success and financial stability, the K-Pop
    industry presents an attractive opportunity to achieve these goals.
    Despite of the success it gains, there is also many critics argue that the K-Pop
    industry can be exploitative, with trainees as young as twelve years old being subjected
    to gruelling schedules and strict diets. As what Amber Liu from a well-known K-Pop
    group f(x) says on one of her interview, becoming a K-Pop idol requires not just talent,
    but also a willingness to undergo rigorous training and adhere to strict rules and
    regulations. The pressure to maintain a certain image and meet the expectations of fans
    can also take a toll on the mental and physical health of idols so, it is not only important
    that you are talented but also mentally strong. Despite these criticisms, it cannot be
    denied that the K-Pop industry has had a significant impact on the global music scene.

    Thirdly, Korean entertainment industry also offer dramas that have also gained
    immense popularity worldwide. K-dramas are known for their unique storylines, breath-
    taking cinematography, and exceptional acting. Shows like Crash Landing On You,
    Parasite, Squid Game and The Glory have captured the hearts of millions of viewers
    around the globe. Some of them gained international recognition and also received
    awards from prestigious organization.

    Lastly, in the words of the former US President Barrack Obama that K-Pop has
    become a cultural juggernaut that is breaking down barriers and uniting people from all
    walks of life. K-Pop has also been credited with boosting tourism and the Korean
    economy, with fans flocking to South Korea to experience K-Pop concerts and fan
    meets. It has created job opportunities for thousands of people, including producers,
    directors, actors, and staff. Moreover, it has helped promote Korean culture and has put
    South Korea on the global map. Even countries like Philippines was also establishing
    Korean-inspired group like BGYO, BINI, SB19, and many more.

    In conclusion, the K-Pop entertainment industry is a force to be reckoned with. It


    has revolutionized the music industry, creating a new standard for pop music and
    entertainment. K-pop and K-dramas have taken the world by storm, and we can expect
    to see more of it in the future. Entering the K-Pop industry give chance to everyone to
    represent their culture on a global stage, achieve fame and financial stability, and
    pursue their passion for music and entertainment. While there are valid criticisms about
    the industry, it cannot be denied that K-Pop has had a significant impact on our life and
    will continue to do so in the future. Before I end this speech, there is quotation from Ms.
    Emma Watson that I want to share to everyone, Showbiz is not just about fame and
    fortune, it’s also about using your platform to make a difference in the world and to
    inspire positive change. Thank you.
