PRE- 1. Write the word Celebrations on the board and elicit what it means.
LESS 2. Brainstorm any celebrations that pupils know.

3. Write pupils’ responses on the board to create a circle map.

4. Activity 1:

a. Stick the calendar on the board and ask pupils what day and what month it is.

ELO b. Then write on the board, e.g. It’s Tuesday, 24 March.

c. Explain to pupils that we write Tuesday, 24 March but we say Tuesday, the twenty-fourth of

March.
d. Have pupils repeat after you.
5. Activity 2:
a. Vocabulary: Introduce the ordinal numbers.
b. Play CD track 52 and have pupils point to the numbers and repeat. (SB pg 37)
6. Activity 3:
a. Direct pupils’ attention to the pictures and elicit what they can see.
b. Pupils close their books.
c. Play CD track 53 and ask pupils to listen to the song carefully.
d. Play the song a second time and have pupils match each verse to the corresponding picture.

e. Highlight a few words from the song such as celebrate, celebration, fun and special.
f. Give pupils the worksheet. Pupils choose the correct definitions. (Assessment)
g. Play the song again and have pupils sing along, following the words in the student’s book.
7. Optional activity:
a. If time, play Bingo with the pupils. (refer to TB pg 63 for steps)

8. Ask each pupil to write an ordinal number (1st – 31st) on a small piece of paper.
