Operated jointly by the Sunset Community Association & the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation
WELCOME
As the days grow longer and the weather gets warmer, I’m thrilled to see more and more people
taking advantage of our wonderful parks and recreational facilities. It’s heartening to see so many
people getting active at the Sunset Community Centre and the Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre, and
I encourage everyone to continue to enjoy these resources.
I’m particularly proud of our Community Hot Meal programs, which bring our community together
to share a delicious and nutritious meal. This program has been a great success, and I’m pleased to
announce that it will continue this year, with even more meals being offered.
I’m also excited to share that the number of programs being offered in our community is increasing this
year, thanks to the hiring of more young leaders within our community. I believe that this will help us
to better serve our community and provide more opportunities for our youth to get involved and make
a positive impact.
I’m always delighted to hear how much our community enjoys the programs and events. Our recent
Family Day event was a huge success, and I’m looking forward to our upcoming Annual Easter Event.
Looking ahead to the summer, I’m thrilled to announce that planning for our SCA Canada Day
Community Celebration and Summer Youth Camps has already begun.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the board members, staff, and volunteers at Sunset
Community Centre. This centre would not be such a great place to work, play and learn without their
efforts.
Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bhalwinder S Waraich
President, Sunset Community Association

The Vancouver Inter-arts Collective
June 9 @ 7pm $15
(VIC) is an exciting new art ensemble that combines music, visual
art, spoken word and movement, working to the lofty goal of
integrating several art forms into one multi-faceted vehicle for
cohesive, communicative & intentful improvised expression. As part
of the process, many of the artists also reach across into their secondary artistic disciplines, and the music
features both acoustic and electronically processed sounds.
Brought together by bass-trombonist Brad Muirhead, VIC features other veteran Vancouver improvisors
Carol Sawyer vocals, Don Klassen (aka Doni ScOb) paint & poetry, Stephen Robb clarinet, Isaac Rosen-
Purcell clarinet, Gary Wildeman percussion and stellar modern dance partners Barbera Bourget and Jay
Hirabayashi topping it off with movement & shape. This interesting artistic adventure is not to be missed!
