Beginning
The year 1955, the setting, a diminutive room in the backyards of Kolkata chandney area, and the event -
the genesis of an automotive company manufacturing sheet metal press components.

The resources were humble. But its founding member Haji M.S.M. BaazulAshaab had a wealth of zing,
entrepreneurial skill and determination, the most imperative of all - an innate flamboyance for
anticipating the future.

No wonder then, in five decades, his successors have been able to commandeer the company to stand as a
premier organization in the press components industry - With its state of the art manufacturing units in
Chennai and Kolkata, its commitment and credibility reflected in the internationally acclaimed ISO
9001:2000 quality assurance certificate.

Now on, the press components are otherwise called “MARAICA”. Make Miracles

» 1955 - Started With Fly Presses with 400 Sq. Ft at Kolkata

» 1958 -Business with Philips India Ltd. Started with a Small Washer

» 1965 -Started in-house Tooling Facilities and injection molding unit

» 1971 - Started a new Unit in Chennai with 1000 Sq. Ft for Metal Press Components

» 1972 -Started business with Lucas TVS and produced Components for Automobile Sectors

» 1983 -Inauguration and starting of production at the New Factory at Palavakkam, Chennai

» 1997 - Approval from Philips India as their Co-Makers to start Luminaries Division at Chennai

» 1998 - The Inauguration of New Luminaries Division at Chennai was on May 17th 2000 by Mr. V.K.
Divadkar VP & BG Head Luminaries.

» 1999 - The Construction of Luminaries Unit Completed at the end of the year. K/33 Ballast Samples
Sent for Approval
» 2000 - The Development and production of TMC 501/136 and TMC 501/236 Putties started on
January 2000 and in June 2000 the production of K/33 Ballast and development of new Putties TMC
300 - Elanza, PLS Elanza, TMC 18/120 were started.

» 2000 - Our Wiper Unit was inaugurated By Shri C.K.R. Murugan for Manufacturing Indica wiping

system.

» 2001 - Manufacturing of FIAT – PALIO Wiping System Was Started

» 2002 - ISO 9001-2000 accreditation

MARAICA INDUSTRIES: INTRODUCTION

MARAICA INDUSTRIES is doing Manufacturing of pressed sheet metal components for actuators,
valves, brakes, car starter, fuel injection, auto luminaries and is based at 3 / 621 East Coast Road,
Palavakkam, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India.

Duties Of Production In Charge are

• Setting of components as per drawing and in case any problem faces by operators to take
corrective action to run the component as per drawing.

• Preventive maintenance to be carried out.

• Shop floor maintenance to be carried out.

• Overall day to day activities to be carried out.

• To check the lot before dispatch as per quality plan and record the same and send the Quality
assurance Certificate along with the lot dispatched in absence of Quality Inspector.
Duties of Purchase In Charge are

• Prepare the purchase order and get approved by the Director Operations.

• Authority to approve the purchase order in absence of the appropriate authority.

• Evaluate the supplier/sub-contractor once in a year and maintain supplier rating records.

• Prepare approved vendor list based on supplier rating.

• Develop new effective vendors

• Enter all purchase bills in the computer.

Duties of Quality In Charge are

• Controlling customer given drawings.

• Preparation of quality documents like inspection plans, SOP,charts etc.

• Controlling quality documents.

• Ensuring product quality at various stages like incoming, in process &final stages of production
by monitoring and measurement at the frequency as described in the quality plans.

• Monitoring the supplier quality performance.

• Handing customer complaints.

• Initiating corrective actions and preventive actions.

• Identifying continual improvements.

• Controlling all the monitoring and measuring devices used to ensure product conformance.

• Maintaining of all calibration records and evaluating their fitness for use.

• Conducting measurement system analysis.

• Controlling the identified nonconforming product.

• Monitoring on the reworked product.

• Conducting product audit/process audit at frequent intervals.

• Conducting layout inspection at frequent intervals.

• Duties of Quality inspectors are


• Interaction with customers on quality related matters.

• Verification of all products coming into the factory, in process and final products.

• Preparation of quality related documents required for the product and getting approval of the
quality in charge.

• Strict adherence to quality as per specifications.

• Adopting the quality management systems.

• Report to Quality in charge functionally.

• Training of operators on quality checking methods.

• Duties of Stores In Charge are

• Preparation of reconciliation statements.

• Preparation of monthly stock statement for materials and other material under process.

• Dispatch of rejected material to suppliers/sub contractors and reworked components to


customer.

• Maintain register of customer supplied products and property.

Duties of Accounts In Charge are

• Prepares all the statements that have to be submitted to different government bodies and
also for internal reference.

• Enter daily cash vouchers.

• Prepares all ledgers that has to be submitted for legal assessments.

• Scrutinizing all bills before the payment is being made.

• Prepare trial balance sheet for every month.

• Report financial status of the company every month to Director Operations.

• Prepare balance sheet to end to the financial year by co-ordinating with the auditor(CA)

Duties of Operators are

• To ensure that components of machines to be free from defects.


• To ensure drawings, control plan, Inspection sheets are available and
record the line inspection sheet as per control plan.

• Components to be inspected as per control plan and remedial action to be taken as per
control plan. If not able to solve the problem, report to shift in charge immediately.

• Daily maintenance of machineries to be carried out as per maintenance schedule and record
the details.
