PREFACE

Dear customer,

The exhaust gas of diesel engines contains particles

damaging to health which are invisible for human
eyes.
Diesel exhaust particulate filters made by HUSS filter
such particles up to 99 % (relating to the particle
mass) and contribute therefore to the protection of
your health and the environment.

It is not possible to compensate deficits of the

engine with the help of diesel exhaust particulate
filters. Thus and prior to the retrofitting of engines
with diesel exhaust particulate filters, the emissions
of the engine should be reduced by means of a
proper adjustment or - if necessary - by a repair.

Guarantee can only be given if the installation or the

acceptance of the filter has been made by the
manufacturer HUSS Umwelttechnik GmbH or a
partner authorized by HUSS such as the instructions
required in the operating instructions have to be
observed.

Please read these instructions before installing or

putting into operation your diesel exhaust
particulate filter. We will be at your
your disposal for
assistance in any question you might have.

Yours,
HUSS Umwelttechnik GmbH

Disorders :
In case a disorder occurs during the
regeneration, it is automatically interrupted
and the red LED will be lighting. The error
codes can be read by using a laptop with
HUSS software, but can also be identified
using the LEDs on the display. Thereto the
ignition has to be switched on and the
white button has to be pushed 3 times.

Note concerning multiple filter systems:

systems :
In the case of 2 to 4 cross-linked HUSS
controls, the red LED blinks one to 4-
times, depending on whether the master
(1) or one of the slave (2-4) controls have
an error.

In the case of all HUSS controls having a

disorder, the LED error code only reports
the disorder of the last one.

Blue smoke after the filter

Blue smoke after the filter is a clear sign that the
diesel engine „ejects“ oil, that means, the
engine exhaust gases partially contain non-
combusted lubricating oil which for one part
deposits in the diesel exhaust particulate filter,
and, for the other part, escapes as blue smoke.
In this case, the maintenance of the engine
should be carried out immediately, to avoid
damages of the diesel exhaust particulate filter.
Diesel exhaust particulate filters charged with
too much oil (or fuel residues) reach rather high
temperatures during regeneration which reduces
their lifetime.

Grey or brown smoke after the filter

This indicates that the exhaust gas contains
non-combusted residual hydrocarbons or
sulphates. The engine‘s injection system has to
be checked.

Recommendation
Recommendation
• Use engine lubricants with low formation of
white ash.
• The quality of engine lubricants is of essential
importance for the service life and the
permanent application in the field
• Ask therefore your dealer, the manufacturer or
the service department for engine lubricants
free of white ash or with only little white ash.
