WCC Castings
ASME SA216 Grade WCC is the "standard" cast carbon steel for valves, float cages and other
pressure retaining castings, as well as for steel structural parts such as yokes. It is readily
welded, without PWHT in thinner sections. (See Welding and Heat Treatment). It has a usable
service temperature range of -20 to 800°F (-29 to 427°C).
WCB Castings
ASME SA216 Grade WCB was the "standard" cast carbon steel until 1988 when Fisher began
using WCC for all new designs. The chemistry of WCB overlaps the chemistry for WCC, but WCB
has slightly lower pressure-temperature ratings than WCC. The service temperature range for
WCB is -20 to 800°F (-29 to 427°C).
