6.Section D consists of 3 Long Answer type questions carrying 05 marks each. Answer to these questions
should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.
7.Section E consists of 3 source-based/case-based units of assessment of 04 marks each with sub-parts.

SECTION- A
1.The path length travelled by a body in a given time interval is known as _____ 1
1. Distance
2. Velocity
3. Speed
4. Acceleration

2.CO2 can be easily liquefied and even solidified because 1

1. It has weak forces of attraction
2. It has comparatively more force of attraction than other gases
3. It has more intermolecular space
4. It is present in atmosphere

3.The only cell organelle is seen in prokaryotic cell is 1

1) Mitochondria
2) Ribosome
3) Plastids
4) Lysosomes
4. Living cells were discovered by 1
1) Robert Hooke
2) Perkinje
3) Leeuwenhoek
4) Robert Brown
Q5-Q8 are Assertion-and-Reason Type
Each question consists of two statements, namely, Assertion (A) and Reason (R).For
selecting the correct answer, use the following code:
1) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are the true and Reason (R) is a correct
explanation of Assertion (A).
2) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are the true but Reason (R) is not a correct
explanation of Assertion (A).
3) Assertion (A) is true and Reason (R) is false.
4) Assertion (A) is false and Reason (R) is true

5.Assertion: Gases exert pressure on the walls of the container. 1

Reason: Gases have strong force of attraction between the molecules.

6.Assertion : The speedometer of a car measures the instantaneous speed of the car. 1
Reason : Average speed is equal to the total distance covered by an object divided by the total
time taken.
7.Assertion: Nuclear region of prokaryotes is called nucleoid 1
Reason: It is covered by single layered membrane instead of two
8. Assertion: Plant cells, Fungi and bacteria can tolerate a very dilute solution 1
Reason :They have a cell wall to resist excessive entry of water
SECTION-B
9.A truck travelling at 54 km/h is slow down to 36 km/h in 10 sec. Find the

retardation. 2
OR
A scooter travelling at 10 m/s speed up to 20 m/s in 4 sec. Find the acceleration of scooter.
10.Which gas is called as Dry ice? Why? 2
11.Write a short note on cytoplasm. 2
SECTION-C
12.(i) A car start from rest and acquire a velocity of 54 km/h in 2 sec. Find 3
(a) the acceleration
(b) distance travelled by car assume motion of car is uniform?
(ii) Draw a velocity-time graph for an object in uniform motion.
13.Show with the help of an activity that particles of matter attract each other. 3
14.Classify organisms on the basis of number of cells. Give two examples of each. 3
OR
Differentiate between living and non living things.
SECTION-D
15.(i) Describe the concept of acceleration and retardation with the help of graphical
representation.
(ii) If a car accelerate from 10m/s to 20 m/s in 2 seconds. Calculate its acceleration. 5
16. a) Explain with the help of an activity why there is no rise in temperature during the change
of state from liquid to gas.
b) Define melting point and boiling point. 5
17. Draw a well labelled diagram of Animal cell and Plant cell. 5
SECTION-E
18.Distance is the length of the actual path covered by an object, irrespective of its direction of
motion. Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final positions of an object
in a given direction.
Distance is a scalar quantity. Displacement is a vector quantity. Distance covered can never be
negative. It is always positive or zero. Displacement may be positive, negative or zero. 4
(i)______________ is the actual path covered by an object.
(a) Speed
(b) Motion
(c) Velocity
(d) Distance

(ii)Define variable motion.

(iii) Differentiate between Displacement and distance.
OR
Differentiate between speed and velocity.
19.A matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. Pen, paper, clips, sand, air, ice, etc.
are different forms of matter. Every matter is made up of small particles. These particles are so
tiny that they can’t be seen with naked eyes. Let’s see about the different characteristics of
particles of matter:-
All matter is made up of very small particles.
Particles of matter has spaces between them.
Particles of matter are continuously moving.
Particles of matter attract each other.
Answer the following questions by referring above paragraph 2+2=4
a) When a diver jumps into swimming pool, which properties of matter are shown by this
activity?
b) Give 6 examples of matter in our surroundings.
OR
b)Enlist all properties of particles of matter.
20.Cells have a variety of shapes. The shape depends upon the function, position, skeleton, cell
wall and visual compression. There are certain cells which have no definite shape example
amoeba or white blood corpuscles. They put out pseudopodia to engulf food particles. Other cells
have a fixed shape. Muscle cells are elongated for contraction. Nerve cells are along gated tree
like for receipt and conduction of impulse red blood cells are by concave and disc shaped to pass
through narrow capillaries. Ovum is rounded while sperm is dart like. (1+1+2=4)
