Medical researchers, cosmetic companies, and
others often perform experiments on animals.
Many people feel that experimentation on animals
is wrong and should be stopped immediately
because animals do feel pain, and there are other
alternatives. How do you feel? State your position
and explain your reasons.
What is Animal experimentation or research?
 The use of animals in scientific research is referred to as

animal investigation or animal experimentation.
 It is critical to note that animal investigations can help
scientists better understand the diseases that torture
animals and humans.
 Scientists also use animal observations or experiments to
test new medications for humans and animal disorders.
 An example of this would be the development of new
medicines or surgical techniques.
Experiments on Animals by Medical industry

 In medical field or company’s animals are used for
testing medicine.
 This is because of same DNA in these animals.
 DNA cannot be replicated through artificial models.
 Test on animal show that the effect of medicine on
human body.
 Through test we can detect the harms and benefits of
medicine.
 Animals play an important role in testing human drugs as
they have a large number of medical reactions identical
or similar to those of human beings.
 Animals like dogs, hens, mice and rabbits are specially
use in testing.
Experiments on Animals by Cosmetic Companies
 Many animals used for test the product of cosmetic

companies.
 Such as eye and skin irritation for tests.
 Animal testing is necessary to provide that vaccines are
safe.
 Animals are good investigation or research subjects
because they are same to human beings in many manners
or ways.
 Rabbits, rats and mice are all used to test cosmetics.
 Dogs and monkeys are never used in this manner.
Importance of Animals in the World
1. Various uses of animals are important for human survival,

such as food, rearing, clothing, and medicine.
2. Throughout history, animals have been used as workers,
companions, friends, and for many other purposes in
order to help humans in their everyday lives.
3. People also keep animals as pets, such as parrots, cats,
cows, horses, and so on, for the purpose of cheering them
up when they are sad or upset.
4. Animals are also the best friend of humans and they are
also gift for us from Allah.
People feelings about experiments on animals

 Experiments on animals are viewed differently by
different group of peoples. On the one hand, some people
think that experimentation on animals is a moral and
ethical thing to do, while on the other hand, some people
think it is against moral ethics at the same time. It is true
that there are some people who think that animals can be
used in experiments because they are low species, but
there are others who think that the use of animals in
experiments is harmful and should be banned since
animals also feel pain during experiments.
 In reality, performing experiments on animals is really

cruel to them, but many people in society never realize
that it is wrong. They believe that animals have no right to
live in happiness and freedom.
How many Animals Die on the basis of

experiments
 Many animals die as well as other survive during the

experiments such as in 2000, total of 2,714,800 animals
were experimented. During experiment many animals
were burned, crippled, poisoned and abused in the U.S
laboratory. About 60%of the animals feel pain during the
experiment with anesthesia and 10% of the animals died
during the experiments due to pain.
Types of tests perform on animals

 The Draize Test (Experiment on rabbit’s eye which
cause yellowing dent around eyes)
 Dermal Toxicity Test (Cause unpleasant skin reactions
that is very toxic)
 Lethal Dose Test (Cause toxicity due to which animals
like rabbit, mice etc. died during experiments)
Alternatives of animal’s experiments

 Animal experiments can be replaced with a variety of
alternative, such as given below:
I. Humans, animals and plants tissues and cells
should use in experiments.
II. In Vitro testing.
III. Advanced computer-modeling techniques.
IV. Three Rs: reduction, refinement and replacement
techniques.
V. In Silico testing techniques.
VI. Human volunteers
 It is not against ethics or morality to use these

techniques, since they are less toxic, less harmful, cheap,
and have no other negative effects on the society.
 Several scientists are employing these techniques to
develop cosmetics, medicines, chemicals, and other
materials instead of using animals.
Pros And Cons of Animals Experiments

Experiments on animals have both benefits and drawbacks as
given below:
Pros:
 It is beneficial for biological processes as well as for
understanding how our body works and respond to the
environment body during experimentation.
 By performing experiments on animals, human lives are

saved and harmful effect on humans reduced such as
there are now treatments of cancers, tumors, allergies etc.
Cons:
 But on the other hand, it has also bad effects on animals’
such as during experiments animals are burn, crippled
and many animals died during experiments.
 It is harmful to use animals in experiments because they

are the beauty of nature. Animals such as rabbits, cats,
dogs, cow etc. are pet animals and people due to their
selfishness never understood the pain of these animals in
experiments.
Why Experimentation on Animals Should Be

Banned?
 First of all, it should be banned because animals also feel

pain and these experiments are very harmful for them.
 Secondly, animal experiments also have many side
effects that affect society as well as the animals
themselves.
 It is unacceptable to subject animals to pain, fear,
discomfort, and anxiety. Animals have their own rights,
aims, and goals that should not be ignored.
 Animal’s experiments should be banned because in
recent researches ninety percent experimental drugs that
are safe and very effective in animals but these are fail in
humans to work and maybe it has dangerous effect.
My Position and Feeling’s about Animal’s
Experiments with reasons
 I am also the part of this society but my thinking about

animal’s experimentation is really different and unique. I
think that animals are also the part of our life and we
should respect them and allow them to live a free,
peaceful and suitable life.
 Tom Regan asserts that ‘’animals are subjects of life just

like human beings are, and a subject of a life has inherent
value. They are ends in themselves.’’ (Qtd. Orlans 26)
 People thinks that animals are low species so

experimentation on them is justified but I think it is
wrong to perform experiment on animals because they
are living organism and they also feel pain on their body
during experiments.
 I know that animals are very precious for biological
processes and for advance medical treatment but people
also have to think about their pain and harm that they
suffer during experimentation. My thinking is that
experiment on animal’s is violation so it must be stop in
every country.
Conclusion
 By all this discussion I think that animal experimentation
is a controversial topic and everyone has their own
thinking and ideas about it. Animals testing should be
eliminated from every country because it violates
animals’ right’s and suffer them from pain and harm. It is
also against the moral ethics.
 Animals should be treated with respect, dignity, happily

etc. so that they can live peacefully and freely. People
have to take care of animals, after all humans are also
animals.
