Introduction: Starting an ePortfolio
Learning outcomes This lesson will help you achieve Course Learning Outcomes: 2, 5, 6 and 7. Demonstrate information and digital literacy skills by locating, analysing, and evaluating learning resources including academic journals, case study analyses, research reports, and online media articles. Communicate effectively with peers and university staff on subjects of an academic and non- academic nature either face-to-face or using a range of digital media including email and discussion board. Demonstrate a reflective and self-directed approach to the learning process by proactively soliciting and incorporating feedback, creating appropriate personal learning goals, and pursuing these goals independently outside of the classroom. Demonstrate critical thinking skills by analysing ideas, evaluating alternative views, making criterion-based judgments, and searching for well-informed answers to self-generated questions.

This will be the first entry to your ePortfolio.
What is an ePortfolio?
Page 2 An ePortfolio is an evolving digital collection of artefacts showing your personal study journey. Here you can store images, videos and your own ideas to provide evidence of how your experiences of learning English develops throughout the term.
During classes over the term we will add content based on classroom activities.
The next part of the lesson will help you set up a Moodle ePortfolio
Task: 2
1. To start go to the course Moodle ePortfolio:
2. Choose ‘New Blog Post’.
3. Create a title in the ‘Title’ box – ‘Portrait of a _______ as a young ________’
4. The best way to upload your image as a photo is to choose ‘Insert or edit image.’
If you don’t like your drawing you can replace it with photos with captions, or even a short video telling the story from your cartoon.
6. To complete your post, remember to click ‘Add post’:

Page 3 Start your ePortfolio by uploading an episode to your ePortfolio, either as a cartoon, captioned photo or video.
Look at the images that are uploaded by your classmates. You can add a helpful comment by choosing ‘Add your comment’. A new window will open up in which you can type your message. You can save your message to their blog by clicking ‘Add your comment.’
