MODULE 3 Task 3 Creating a Training Course Outline

You can choose from a variety of formats when creating your training course outline
below is only one example. However, your outline should include these main parts:

 course description  list of topics


 course goals  assessment plan
 course objectives
Optionally, you can include more detail in your course outline and also include
objectives, activities, and assessment tasks for each topic. You can also include a list of
materials, readings, videos or other resources.

SAMPLE Training Course Outline

Ready, Set, Engage! A Teacher-Training Program on Student-centered Methodology

Trainer: John LastName Length: 6 weeks Training Sessions: 3 hours

Course Description and Goal Statement:


This course is designed to prepare English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers working in secondary
education (high school) with knowledge and skills in student-centered teaching methodology. The
overall goal of this course is for the participants to be able to use student-centered teaching concepts in
their teaching context.

Course Objectives:
 define characteristics of student-centered teaching
 plan needs analysis strategies for understanding student needs and interests
 identify student-centered characteristics in a lesson plan
 create student-centered activities and lesson plans for their teaching context

Assessment:
Participants will be assessed on presentations of lesson plans and other teaching tools throughout the
course. At the end of the course, participants will submit a final lesson plan. The final lesson plan will be
graded using a rubric to measure how well the plan meets criteria based on the course topics.
